Lagos streets are dirty,armed robbers abound everywhere,no power most times in MM Intl Airport,
no social infrastructure in lagos,nothing works,kidnapping in naija delta,
yet everyday,oyibo flock in by air,filipinos come in thru sea going vessels,
why then do d oyibos still come and refuse to leave lagos,abi dem dey craze?

Lagos is certainly not the worst place to work on earth. Lagos is a commercial city, what do u expect from any commercial cities, so much hustly and bustly and so many inflow of people to make ends meet. If u pull off the commercial nature of lagos to abuja, u should be expecting the worst there too. Show me a commercial and busy city and I will show you how turf and hard that place can be.

So the CNN guy whose mouth cannot be closed should understand this concept.

face it guys in lagos their is too much problems is it the time it will take you to get to work in isale eko with the stupid traffic on the road , and if you happen to drive yourself to work everyday then it is even worse, i personally think it is a nightmare to be on lagos road travelling to and from work every day. cnn is right in some ways the only thing i will disagree with is that it is the worst place to work on earth.

But look, fellow Lagosians, Lagos is neither one of the best places to work.

As a matter of fact, except u're not a worker in Lagos, u should know that it ranks very low in this regard.

Fine, CNN has it's own bias about anything Nigeria, but there is a solid element of truth in this claim that Lagos is the worst place to work.

If u apply my philosophy about how to use news from CNN, that claim means that Lagos ranks very high as one of the worst places to work.
 
Lets face it. Patriotism is not the same thing as turning blind eye to the truth.

-A place where u have to jump in and out of a moving bus cannot be one of the best places to work.

-A place where people lost their lives as a result of bus drivers' stupidity, naivety and impatience cannot be said to be the best places to work.

-A place where u get to the office tired as a result of traffic jam cannot be said to be one of the best places to work.

-A place where one consistently pay N50 from Alagbado to Oshodi early in the morning and pay N200 to cover the same distance (Oshodi to Alagbado) later in the evening definitely cannot be classified as one of the best places to work.

-A place where only one 'Agbero' can hijack the bus u're riding in and make u face the consequences of coming late to work from inconsiderate employers can't be classified as the best place to work.

-A place where miscreants get applauded for displaying their madness on the road is not the best place to work.

-A place where majority of employers do not make provisions for accommodation and transportation but serves u query and perhaps salary deduction for coming a few minutes late to work after making u work well after closing hours the previous night is definitely one of the worst places to work.

-A place where most workers get home late at 9t and jump up by 4am in the morning to rush to work is not the best place to work.

C'mmon Lagosians, we deserve better lives!

But thank God, things are beginning to change. A journey that normally takes 3hrs now take 2hrs, U can now move in Oshodi during rush hours without anybody bumping into you.

Thank u Gov Babatunde Fashola! With u in charge I have no doubt in my mind that making Lagos one of the best places to work is only a matter of time. I have no fear about that.

Those things are nothing but moving coffins. Experiences on Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, which I ply twice everyday, brought me to this conclusion.

Lagos is one of the best places to work in Nigeria. In lagos, you can make money by just hanging out on the streets. . .look at Kenny and Dee one for instance. . .

I once heard the story of two lebanese who got offered 2 job opportunities in the states and in Lagos,Nigeria. After a couple of years the one in the states became envious of the one who came to Lagos. Why? because he was just a commoner in the US but the one in LAgos was a high flyer.
As far as CNN is concerned they have proven their point a long time ago so it's stale news anyway.BTW they get paid to run their mouths so its no biggie.No point arguing.

This thread is about Lagos being the WORST place to work in the world.

We know it aint all smooth in eko-ile but c'mon now, it can never be the worst lailai.

The Molue that ur complaining about brings sanity to some commuters after a hard day's work whether you like it or not - some poeple cannot wait to get on the molue to start heaing beggars stories and sales pitches

Also in my dear Lagos, you dont have to pull over to duy a drink when ur thirsty or hungry - there's plenty of gala and Orobo hawkers all around you. Original cold pure water yes!!

The reporter or the producer of that documentary has probably not been to Mumbai(India), or is just being terribly biased.

A challenging place to work and live in no doubt, but the worst place on earth to work? Thats a whole load of crap.

If it were that bad, they would not be working here no matter the pay they are offered and we wont have so many of them working their papers to come in(Ask immigration service companies).

Indians and chinese and eastern europeans find it easy working here. Thats because, they have seen things like this before.

The core westerners also, can blend in with a few additional conveniences and luxuries.

They have more important things to talk about at this time. Like somone pointed out, their criminals in suites that have put the whole world in a mess right now.

You can Imagine if madoff was Nigerian or if Merryl Lynch, Lehman brothers and the rest of the companies were Nigerian concerns.

They would have written for Nigeria to be cut off from the rest of the world businesswise.

If you have not been to more than 5 cities in the world then you what you need to do is to shut up and accept the criticism.
Forget lagos is a village compared to other parts of the world in terms of infrastructure and cleanliness.

The major problem with Lagos is waste management and our use of only road as means of transportation. No decent city can survive on only road. The ferry services in lagos need to increase and become more efficent and it should be extended across the city to ease the pressure on the roads. What of rail ?, that one day e no dey , light nko e no dey , water nko ?, tif nko e dey.

Nobody is celebrating the state of Lagos. Far from it.
But I am sick to my stomach of the foreign press writing all kinds of crap about Third World Nations, so they can sell their nonsense media.
I was reading the latest edition of readers Digest, and one guy was writing about how Iraqis are embezzling American money meant for the development of Iraq. He even cited certain contracts awarded to Iraqis by the US Government that the Pentagon has been unable to trace. What nonsense. Like the US is legitimately in Iraq?
Our development rests on our shoulders alone. If Fashola is borrowing money to put infrastructure, while the Fed Gov is sitting on their mysterious 'disappearing billions' of so-called Federal Reserves, then I say maximum props to BRF. A time not too long ago, soldiers in power were swallowing all kinds of WB and IMF/IFC loans without doing a darned thing! At least the infrastructure will bring revenue to the state, and over time the gbese will be paid. At least from my layman's financial perspective that's how it works.

Cnn never did a good survey b4 they came out with that story even their correspondent testify to it that lagos is not as bad as it was painted so what are we talking about they should look for other stories that would make their headlines and live lagos alone, with Gov Fashola and the Good people of Lagos we will get there.instead of trying to review old oshodi to the new oshodi they are saying rubbish.

Totally in disagreement with you over removing Molues from lagos, cos that is like removing the red buses from the streets of London.

The problem is not removing molues, but modernizing the fleet. The Molues should be one of the touristic features of lagos state.

I wonder why people are getting all emotional and upset with the CNN report. They must not work in lagos!

Lagos is a hell hole. All the roads are bad, traffic is horrible and armed robbers are having a field day. Ask those who have to wake up by four am just to get to work on time and stand the risk of being attacked by robbers. Ask those who get stuck in traffic for hours on end. The filth, the lack of security, the everything!!!!
I return to nigeria every year and its always worse than i left it . What do you do? Just try and secure your own compound and pray for God to protect you!
At the end of the day, lagos is home and we as nigerians will continue to adapt and adjust to anything.

idoko is the only person that has said to truth on this forum, lets not be sentimental and speak the truth. lagos is chaos, its not a place to live and work. People are being treated like animals, ladies, mothers, brothers, grand fathers all jump off moving buses, the aggression is crazy. Abuja is a sane place to live and work. We only solve issues if we accept that we have issues, lagos has issues and it is soooooooooooooo visible. some people wake up 4:00 am to go to work. The people i pitty the most are the primary school kids i see in vehicles that early in morning. ONly a miracle can save Lagos, why lie about it when we clearly see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
