In a fictional war with Nigeria, the US will use its Suubmarine in the gulf of Guines to bring Nigeria to its knees.

The US doesn't allow any war on its soil so I don't see how Nigeria will not be brought to its knees with the war being on its soil.

As for Somalia, google Operation Restore Hope and what its terms were, The US didn't go to war with Somalia please
