Beremx:Am so surprised Ma that you are talking of quoting the president of Nigeria out of context. Wow. Am so speechless, because the previous administration (GEJ) words were taking at face value. Sometimes outrightly twisted out of context using the media as a propaganda tool. . For the record, I have no party affiliation. I am just a concerned Nigerian. I am actually one those who tried to. wail about the evils of propaganda machineries. But unfortunately, we are here today because a few others must have their way or no other way. 7 Likes |

"On some issues" what are those issues? Jobs? infrastructure? Finance? Education? I cannot believe that people are defending this madness. AN ELECTED PRESiDENT SERVES EVERYONE THE SAME ON ALL ISSUES. "Officially" he was elected by Nigeria, not the north east or north west etc but Nigeria and he serves the whole as a whole. Why are people defending this nonsense just bc they like this man. This is pathetic 9 Likes 1 Share |

lazinc: Are you just waking from slumber? The people of the Lower Niger got to unite and fight for their rights. If you think any meaningful thing would be achieved through protest, then you are on a long thing. Boro started the struggle he was eliminated. Ikemba tried, he was betrayed. Saro-wiwa raised his voice he was equally eliminated. So who next? it remaining only the Ibibio/Efik, Urhobo and itsekiri. But, the itsekiri were defeated a long time ago even before independence. Palestinians are fighting for occupation of their land. South Sudan fought for their land. The Lower Niger must unite and fight for theirs. Independence is never won on a platter of gold. Rise up for freedom or remain a conquered people for ever. They no you can only make noise which doesn't change anything. You are a conquered land, and the victors have a right to take anything from the vanquished. 6 Likes |

forkadict: Excuse me, but how dare the president of a country say he will treat those who voted for him more favorably on ANY issues? He has no right to say that. In fact if we are to go by the letter of the law that is actually an impeachable offense. I don't care what the issue is, weather it is infrastructure development, jobs, appointments...EVERY SECTION of the country HAS to be treated fairly on EVERY issue. If Buhari does not get that simple fact then he's not fit to be president. Simple 8 Likes 1 Share |

otunsman: Actually I will have to disagree with that statement. The true Northern political class, the likes of late Sheu Yar'dua, Atiku, Bangangida...etc are actually very generous and believe in sharing across all the zones. The problem with Buhari is that he is a Northern EXTREMIST. Always has been as was shown during the sharia controversy. People were being killed all over the North, and rather than him to come out and appeal for clam, he declared himself in support of sharia across the WHOLE country. Did you hear such words from Atiku, El-Rufai, Babangida.... or any prominant Northern politician? Why do you think the Northern elites for so long did not support Buhari's ambitions? It's because they know him inside out. A leopard can NEVER change his spots and despite the best efforts of Tinubu and the APC to present Buhari as some kind of transformed gentle democrat, the REAL Buhari, the extremist dictator, who only cares for his OWN people will always come to the surface. 7 Likes |

Privy: This is one of the most matured and sensible posts I have read. Well written guy/girl. What makes the statement a little more bizarre is that, is it the resources located in the part of the country that didn't vote for him that he plans to use to favor those who 'voted for him'? 6 Likes |

BTW these are some of the comments El-Rufai made about Buhari in 2010. it's a shame he later turned around to support him. Those comments were actually the truth. Mallam el-rufai wishes to remind general Buhari that he has remained perpetually unelectable because his record as military head of state, and afterwards, is a warning that many Nigerians have wisely heeded. His insensitivity to Nigeria’s diversity and his parochial focus are already well-known. In 1984, Buhari allowed 53 suitcases belonging to his adc’s father to enter Nigeria unchecked at a time the country was exchanging old currency for new. Against all canons of legal decency, he used retroactive laws to execute three young men for drug-peddling after they were convicted by a military tribunal and not regular courts of law. Buhari was so high handed that he gave himself and his officials immunity even from truthful reporting. That obnoxious decree 4, against which truth was no defence, was used to jail journalists and attempt to cow the media as a whole. That tyrannical legislation shows the essence of his intolerance. These are facts of recent history. The story of counter-trade and import licensing, the cornerstone of BUHARI’S STONE-AGE ECONOMIC STRATEGY AND THOSE WHOSE INTERESTS IT SERVED, is a tale for another day 5 Likes 1 Share |

Privy:Hmm... Nice comment. I very much agree with the sentiments u expressed in ur comment. I'm glad PMB was able to catch himself on time when he realized how poorly he was with the answer. Though I think the answer he gave was basically out of context. The problem I had with PMB is not in the answer itself, but the fact that he couldn't intelligently answer a question so specific. He never mentioned anything about Niger Delta in his answer, how he intends to approach issues relating to this region, with particular reference to amnesty, bunkering and inclusive development. This was the question Dr Pollen Baker asked. So my disappointment lies first in the fact that he struggle to understand the question asked in simple and plain English and second, in the fact that he answered unintelligently. He should really work on his listening skills and his language. 4 Likes |

For those that could not watch the video, this is the full transcript of the question asked by Dr Pollen Baker and the reply given by PMB. Dr Pollen Baker: Mr President, Welcome. I've been a student of Nigeria for many years and first of all, I want to tell you that I've never seen such a hopeful attitude towards Nigeria and the United States since your election; So I think we all here want you to succeed. My question relates to another area of Nigeria that hasn't gotten much attention during this trip and that is the Niger Delta. It is a challenge that you are going to face, and I wonder if you would tell us how you intend to approach with particular reference to the amnesty, bunkering and inclusion, the inclusive development. |
Re: BUHARI: I Will Not Treat Nigerians Equally!! Video by Ladysmith1: 3:03pm On Jul 24, 2015 |
PMB replied: Yes, I hope you have a copy of the election results. Literally, constituencies, for example, that gave me 97% cannot in all honesty be treated, on some issues, with constituencies that gave me 5%. I think these are political realities. While certainly there would be justice for everybody; everybody would enjoy his constitutional rights. But, the party, in constituencies, by their either sheer hardwork they made sure that they got their people to vote and to ensure that their votes count, they must feel that the government has appreciated the efforts they put in putting the government in place. I think this is really fair. By constitution, no state can be excluded from government. So even if I want to show gratitude to those constituencies that heavily voted for me against those that didn't even vote for me, they have the protection of the government. And I've made an undertaken that I belong to everybody, I belong to nobody. If I come clearly and show and marginalize a group, because they didn't vote for me, then I have already contradicted myself. And I'm sure people would be too quick to pick that against me. |

I have to be plain and honest! Everything in the video is so embarrassing! I was just cringing throughout! -For heavens sake, English is our main language, why should our President need someone to translate this same English to him? Anybody that doesn't find this embarrassing is very silly! - Maybe the guy did not interpret the question well to him, but he ended up not answering her question! He didn't say anything about Niger Delta which was the crux of the question! - Then that statement he made ...... Who says that? especially in public? Though he made some soothing remarks later, but those words that came out 1st are the true intents of his heart! Doesn't he know that the voting pattern was based on tribal lines - 'SW+N vs SE+SS' and doesn't he knows how fragile the unity of these tribes are? Is he favours the North and South West more, doesn't he know he is giving more reasons for militants to pick up their weapons and go back to their former business? after all, 'its their oil money' Doesn't he know he is giving the East more reasons to continue their Biafra chants? During GEJ's tenure, the North did not vote for him, but they were arguably the biggest receivers from his government! 7 Likes |

fulanimafia: He lent his voice in support for what is essentially bigotry and ethnic nepotism. It's without doubt that the president misspoke. Any intelligent supporter of the president would stress the context in which those ill thought-out statements were made, or wiser still, hold aloof. He did neither of those but instead tried to justify Buhari's goof up. It's very shameful. 5 Likes |

bjdon: But from the 3:12 mark forward, he also said that even though he wants to do so, he is restrained by the constitution from doing such. And that if he goes ahead, people will be too quick to pick on that and criticise him. Did you listen to the clip to the end or did you just read what the biased and confused supposed interpreter posted? 1 Like |
