How Can I Help My Son Overcome Fear? by thelish(f): 10:32am On Jul 24, 2015 |
Please, how can I help my 4 year old son overcome fear? He seems to be very free outside, but keep to himself at home. Before his holiday, I went to his school to confront them, because he couldn't answer a question from his book, but my son fall my hand right there. He was reading all what he refused to read at home. Please I need help. He seems to lack self confidence. I tried to reduce my shouting at him in order to draw him close to myself, but there is still no improvement yet. Thanks 1 Like 2 Shares |

Are you harsh towards him? Is your voice loud and hard? Does he go to a boarding school? Let's start from there. 8 Likes |

Looks like he is scared of you. You might need to readjust how you treat him at home. You'll figure out what works. 37 Likes |

Cutehector: This man is right, and besides teachers are always different from mothers you get his attention by being his friend and loose his confidence by acting like his teacher which means don't shout or cane him to read or write at home |

obviously the problem is at home, not with your son. 36 Likes |

Cutehector: That's one hell of a problem we are having in most schools teachers are in the best position to put the parents through with the kids learning situation, but when u get to them and complain they will show u the what he or she has been doing in class to cover up their ass not knowing the best performance of a child should be both in school and home, all schools suppose to have daily performance book for parent to check mate their children when they get home.....anyway my own problem is my 3years old girl always don't want to go to sch not that she do cry on her way to sch but says that when she get up from bed, I don't know if that's an issue anyway 1 Like |

thelish:right. You know, I think your son is highly intelligent and as such, he keeps to himself in the absense of academics. As he grows older, his behavior will change. 1 Like |

libertyfather:lol u are very true... Ah mean, teachers are paid to figure out the child's problems right? Buh the schooling system is so so bad.. Kids are taught the same things u and I were taught during our days.. D same ba ba black sheep, hav u any wool, yes sir yes sir three black wool loool over and ova again.. D same old roger is dead and gone to the grave, the same method of countin numbers... Little wonder parents send thr kids to all these expensiv private schools, its because the teachers must under go psycology training for children so they can be able to understand behavioral patterns in children and how best they can help d child to know his or her strengths.. Sir, trust me, I won't lie to u, most primary school teachers don't knw hw to teach kids... Take it from me as someone who has been in d school system.. I used to work as d principal's secretary and I tell u, some of these teachers aren't helpin matters.. Maybe I"d blame it on their low salary. 5 Likes 1 Share |

deniyor: He can bear pains as well. There was a day, the dad mistakenly jam the door against his hand, every other would scream or shout to alert his dad, but my son kept quiet there bearing the pain while his hand was still strapped to d door. It was so annoying that I had to spank him for keeping quiet. |

thelish: STOP SPANKING HIM! I'm not so fond of telling people what to do but I can tell you the consequences of child abuse. First off. He's already withdrawn and afraid to share or voice out his feelings either pain or joy. He trusts his peers more than you cuz they can only do little to hurt him unlike you who always spank him at every opportunity. Excuse me if I say this but you are only a beast who takes out her frustration on the poor kid. So you need to STOP SPANKING HIM! Kids thrive in a conducive environment that is enveloped in love and care and that is what your role as a parent entails. Naturally as a mother, you are supposed to bond with your kids better than the farther whose is supposed to be out there as the bread winner. Instead you have become a cruel police woman. I'll tell you another reason you need to STOP SPANKING HIM, he might grow up detached from you or even dislike you. He might even start rebelling against you as soon as he's big enough. So you now see why you need to start bonding and become more friendly. Caution him with words and except he's done really done something really bad STOP SPANKING HIM! 24 Likes |

Try not to shut him up whenever he tries talk to you. Always try to ask for his opinion on things that you're sure he likes. And encourage his friends to come and play with him at homen 12 Likes 1 Share |

Young children are still discovering the world that they live in. Their imagination is developing and hence whatever they see/ hear in real life can result in formation of scary mental images. There's nothing wrong with being a little reserved. But if feeling shy keeps a child from enjoying new experiences and doing the things he truly wants to do, it can be a problem. I think Talking to your child will definitely make him feel more comfortable. Let your child share his fear with you. Ask him to explain what is it that he is scared of and why? Let him explain how he felt. Show him your concern while he discusses his fear with you. Tell him how you were also scared of several things as a child. This empathy will definitely strengthen your bond with your child as he starts believing that you care and are concerned about his feelings. 3 Likes 1 Share |

1) Stop shouting on him 2) Stop too much of beating 3) Talk to him as a mother and a friend 4) Make him understand that fear is man's greatest enemy and fear kills faster than anything in the world. 5) Google out for ways on how to overcome fear and teach him. My 2 cents. 2 Likes |
