In the current Nigeria Union of Journalist delegate conference, Mr. Abdulwaheed Odusile of the Nation Newspapers has been declared as the union's new president.
Mr. Osusile, who succeeds Mallam Garba Mohammed was declared winner of the election by Mr. Gabriel Baglow, the returning officer and Director of African Affairs, International Federation of Journalists.
Mr. Osusile, at the National Delegates Conference of NUJ held in Abuja Today, defeated Mr. Rotimi Obamuwagun by 354 votes 333 votes.
Mr. Dele Atunibi, USA Uzaka, Alhaji Mustafa Lamidi are other competitors of the post which they got 51 votes, 46 votes and 12 votes respectively.
The post of the financial secretary of the union was obtained by Mr. Mohammad Shu after securing 454 votes to defeat Mr. Ajayi Olugbenga.
The post of the National Treasurer was secured by Mrs. Monica Okechukwu, who got 310 votes to defeat two other contestants.
The positions of the Deputy National President, National Internal Auditor and the Vice-President, North-Central, were not opposed.
Mr. Goddy Okafor lost the South-east vice presidency to Mr. Chris Isiguzo while Aisha Ibrahim won the position of Vice-President for North-East.
Mr. Hakeem Olatidoye was declared the Secretary for North-Central while Mr. Lawal Afolabi won the post of the Secretary, South-West Zone.
Delegates to the conference were from the 36 states of the federation
