These photos show the deplorable state of some villages and creeks in the Niger Delta where there's oil exploration. Some of the places are a mess due to the exploration

So who's liable?

The foreign companies operating in the region or the Nigerian Govt or pipeline vandals?

Those creek oil thieves or so-called militants must be incarcerated for illegal oil bunkering and environmental devastation.

Didn't know what they were doing? Some freedom fighters, my dog's foot!

Consequences of d relentless oil drilling in their area by Nigerian government... their militants who protested were compensated by settling them and giving them amnesty.... now foolish buhari has decided to remove d amnesty...Wickedness

Jesus, if this were in the west, the culprits would be fined tons of billions of dollars in addition to cleaning it up.

I hope the local oil thieves that masqueraded as militants had no hand in this awful mess!

Nigeria government should wake up and fine those companies heavily.

This is not due to oil exploration. There are no companies in the world that would pollute the environment this way. Try to be more matured and broad in thinking. These pictures show the effects of vandalization of oil and gas installations by the indigenes of the Niger Delta. This is a crime against themselves, mother earth and against the international community. These guys are raising CFCs and damaging the ozone layer they are also causing serious damage to health. There is benzene and its related compounds in those liquids gushing out. The most irresponsible regime we have ever had in Nigeria was Good luck Jonathan. You can be angry about that or rave at me however you want but those pictures should not represent an area that just produced the President of Nigeria for no tour reason than that he should develop the Niger Delta so that the region would also be the engine of Nigerian growth. Instead he has enriched a few and impoverished many. I hope the truth is not painful if it is no apologies.

This is indeed a sad sight, but the foolish militants were asleep through out Jogogoros' regime, that is why I am against amnesty, the money is better channeled to repairing the damaged environment than some occultic marauders destroying the environment for their own pocket

Is it the one year of Buhari administration that turned it so when the six years of Jonathan could only watch it decay more.

If you like, show us decapitated and dilapidated areas...you guys collect nothing less than thrice or four times the allocation of other states that are three times bigger than you are and u still blame the govt for your woes!!!

Besides, continue with bunkering, vandalization and illegal refining to soil your lands.

I not saying that the multinationals are not liable, but what about your leaders that collects billions of naira after giving you 500naira each to protest?

They live large and blue without having a major or even a minor legal works and you didn't protest for once against them!

Jonathan used 6yrs (sorry, five and half like you dunces likes to argue as if it matters), yet, you blame buhari for your woes.

And dnt talk abt OBj because he created the Nigerian Delta ministry and gave you 13% derivatives just to develop yourselves.

Those are impacts of pipeline vandalism, Oil bunkering and illegal refinery, which are all by-products of militancy.

What has ND done with:

1. 13% derivation
2. NDDC
3. Min of Niger Delta
4. Allocation
5. CSRs from Oil Majors and oil servicing companies.
6. Amnesty prog.

If all that cannot transform your land, only God knows what will.

Militancy have brought more jobs and development to the people of Niger delta
politicians in Niger delta are puppet in the hands of Fulani and Yoruba mafia in Abuja
if you spend time in Niger delta illegal refineries have brought more development to the people
practically there is no government in Niger delta the people are ruling themselves
for those who are condenming the militants before the bomb blast is there any meaningful development
