Serial Lucid Air: When It Is Too Expensive And Too Late, But The Performance Is Impressive

The American company Lucid Motors has unveiled the production version of its first model, the large electric Air sedan. Buyers will be offered four modifications at a price of 80 thousand to 169 thousand dollars.

Lucid Motors showed the prototype of the Air sedan back at the end of 2016 with a promise to launch production in 2018, but due to lack of experience and funding problems, this schedule failed miserably – the online presentation of the serial version was held only on September 9, 2020, moreover that the construction of its own plant in Casa Grande (Arizona) has not yet been completed, and in the spring of 2021 Lucid Motors intends to start shipping the first conveyor machines to customers.

At the heart of the Air sedan is the original LEAP (Lucid Electric Advanced Platform) platform with an integrated 900-volt lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 113 kWh (cells supplied by LG Chem). The wheelbase is 2960 mm, the overall length is 4975 mm. There are two luggage carriers – front for 202 liters and rear for 456 liters. The suspension is not pneumatic, as one might expect from the model name, but spring-loaded, with adaptive electronically controlled shock absorbers: the front is double wishbone, the rear is multi-link. The aerodynamic drag coefficient of the body cx is 0.21.

Maserati dazzles “lightning” and announces the crossover Grecale and other new items

As part of the premiere of the MC20 supercar, the Italian company also talks about its future plans: a dozen more new products will be presented until 2024.

Maserati regularly informs the public about its plans for life and constantly corrects them. A fresh dose of introductory notes was announced at the world premiere of the petrol version of the MC20 supercar, which should become a symbol of the revival of the Italian brand (revival means sales growth and liquidation of losses). The MC20 is one of 13 new products that Maserati is going to unveil in the next three years, Autocar magazine revealed details with reference to representatives of the brand.

First, it became known that an electric version of the MC20 with a range of 323 km on a single charge will hit the market in 2022 (a petrol version without a roof will probably appear earlier), and after that all new Maserati products will have a mandatory electric modification. Electric Maserati will receive the Folgore prefix to the name, which means “lightning” in Italian. The power plant of “electric trains” Maserati will consist of three electric motors: one on the front axle, two on the rear. The 800-volt battery will support fast charging from powerful 300-kilowatt terminals.

Scuderia rolled out its first novelty after the coronavirus crisis – an updated coupe-convertible Portofino, to the name of which the letter M, traditional in such cases, was added (Modificata, that is, “modified”).

Port of Rotterdam preparing for low-carbon future

Storage terminals operator Global Energy Storage (GES) has made its first major investment at Europoort in the Dutch Port of Rotterdam.

The Singapore-based company will develop an existing oil terminal into a low-carbon products facility, the size of which is around 20 hectares. The site includes deep water access, as well as brownfield and greenfield development opportunities.

According to GES CEO Peter Vucins: "This project aims to become one of the largest low-carbon developments at a world-class industrial hub, with the potential to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of future business in the Port of Rotterdam.”

Jaguar has updated the F-Pace: a different salon, only “automatic” and a revised engine range

Live sales of new items in the home market will begin in December 2020, now dealers are taking orders. Prices for the “refreshed” crossover are already known.

The British company began selling its first crossover, the F-Pace, in the spring of 2016. The model is produced at the British JLR plant in Solihull. The best SUV for this was 2017: then on the European market, dealers managed to sell 30,920 copies, then sales began to decline. So, at the end of last year, customers in the Old World bought only 18,884 cars, which is almost 20% less than in 2018. Now it’s time for the planned restyling: today Jaguar has declassified the “refreshed” cross.

The F-Pace’s exterior remained largely intact during the update. The basic versions now have LED head optics, a pair of double J-shaped stripes appeared in the headlights (they can be matrix for an additional charge). The radiator grille of the “refreshed” crossover received a different pattern and became a little larger, there is no longer a bar between it and the edge of the hood. Both bumpers have changed, the design of alloy wheels, the shape of the exhaust pipes; the rear lights now have the same styling as the electric sibling I-Pace.

The recently updated Porsche Panamera will have even more powerful hardware

The output of the Turbo S E-Hybrid is expected to grow from the current 680 to 760 hp. The car will be presented in the near future.

Awaiting debut: Jeep unveils Grand Wagoneer SUV in new photos

The presentation of the concept of the new American brand will take place next Thursday, September 3. The company decided to stir up interest with the next batch of teasers.

The American company Jeep began producing the classic Wagoneer back in 1963: then it was one of the first civilian SUVs with the now familiar five-door body. Subsequently, the manufacturer modernized the car several times and changed its name: in the period from 1983 to 1991, the model was sold under the name Grand Wagoneer. Along with this, the name “Wagoneer” from 1983-1990 was used for the top-end performance of the Jeep Cherokee, and in 1992-1993 the most expensive version of the Grand Cherokee was called the Grand Wagoneer. Now the company, apparently, is reviving a separate Wagoneer model with its top version – the Grand Wagoneer.

It was assumed that new items will be presented a couple of years ago, but the Italian-American concern FCA, which owns the Jeep brand, postponed the debut. The company recently announced that the official premiere is scheduled for September 3. Later it was reported that only the concept of the luxury SUV Grand Wagoneer would be presented. We will see the commercial version later, it is expected that it will go on sale no earlier than the second half of next year.
