Tesla launches “full autopilot” for a select few

Tesla, as promised, uploaded a beta version of its FSD (Full Self-Driving) program this week to a limited number of the “most experienced and cautious” drivers, but early news from the fields indicates that the selection of volunteers was not very careful.

Tesla has timed the start of testing “full autopilot” on client machines to publish its financial report for the third quarter of this year, in which it managed to earn $ 331 million. The FSD test launch should instill confidence in investors that Tesla is not a blown bubble with an inadequate capitalization ($ 401 billion at the time of our publication) and that there is room for further growth.

The head of Tesla, Elon Musk, told investors that the widespread dissemination of the FSD program, aka “full autopilot”, could begin before the end of this year, while beta testing is underway. People’s testers, of course, immediately began to upload videos with self-driving Tesla electric vehicles on the Internet. Here’s a typical case:

The fundamental difference between FSD and the second level autopilot according to the SAE classification, which Tesla has been offering for its cars for several years and which has provoked dozens of accidents (including fatalities), is that now the car can drive itself through intersections and navigate in a complex city environment. At the same time, legally, it is still a second-level autopilot, requiring constant human control. In the instructions preceding the launch of the program, it is written that the driver’s hands must be on the steering wheel all the time, but, as can be seen from the video presented above, the testers wanted to sneeze at this requirement.

Italian company De Tomaso will produce sports car P72 in the USA

This is supposed to be a step towards the return of the “glory days” of American luxury cars.

De Tomaso is a sports car manufacturer headquartered in Modena, Italy. Its founder was an Argentinean entrepreneur Alejandro de Tomaso. Initially (in 1959) the company specialized in the production of prototypes and racing cars, and its first own sports car was introduced in 1963. The most famous model remains the Pantera coupe (produced in the 70s and 80s). In 2014, the brand was bought by the Hong Kong company Ideal Team Ventures, which intends to gain a foothold in the ultra-luxury segment.

The company has quite strong ties with the American auto industry: many models, including the famous Pantera, were equipped with Ford engines (in particular, the Pantera was powered by a Ford V8). And the US car market itself is still one of the largest. So there is nothing surprising in De Tomaso’s desire to move to the United States: the company announced the transfer of activities yesterday. The corresponding project was named Mission American Automotive Renaissance.

It is planned to move all major operations, major corporate facilities, the vehicle design division, as well as their production to the States. So, it is here that the Italian brand intends to launch the release of its new product – the De Tomaso P72 coupe. It has not yet been announced where the company’s production site will be located: now the management is choosing from several options (the decision will become known within six months).

Restyled pickup Nissan Navara appeared again in the photo: now top versions

The exterior design of the truck was made in the style of the older Titan. In addition, the updated Navara has a special version with an even more brutal appearance. According to unofficial data, in Asia, the model got a turbo diesel from the European version.

The first spy photo of a restyled Nissan Navara pickup without disguise was posted on the Web a few days ago, but it was an average or even basic configuration. And fresh footage published on the Thai website Headlightmag shows the top version, from almost all sides. Moreover, the publication somewhere got hold of clearly official pictures – on them we see a special version of the Pro4X. By the way, the cars seem to have the Frontier inscription on all the images (this name is used, for example, in the States and South America), but in Thailand the pre-reform truck is called Navara. So it is not yet clear: either the pictures were not taken in this country, or the paparazzi came across an export version. But in any case, this is not a Frontier for the USA – a model of the previous generation is still presented there, and a new one will be made on its basis.

The recently redesigned Porsche Panamera is now more powerful – now it has 700 hp

The German sports car manufacturer has unveiled a new top-end hybrid modification of the model.

Porsche has been producing the Panamera since 2009. The model of the current second generation was presented in 2017, at the same time the Panamera station wagon entered the market: this “five-door” received the Sport Turismo prefix to its name. In August of this year, the Germans showed an updated liftback and “shed”, as well as a version of the plug-in hybrid, which received the 4S E-Hybrid prefix. Well, now the manufacturer has declassified information about the “stuffing” of another hybrid modification of the model – Turbo S E-Hybrid.

The Turbo S E-Hybrid is now the most powerful Panamera and also the second highest performance Porsche to date. The new plug-in hybrid is based on a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine with 571 hp output, which works in tandem with a 136-horsepower electric motor integrated into an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The total system power is 700 hp and the maximum torque is 870 Nm.

Shipping process guide

Once delivered to the port, the information on the dock receipt (such as the vessel name, date of departure and date of arrival) are subject to change at the shipping line’s discretion. The actual loading time depends on how fast the car clears Customs, the congestion at the terminal, as well as other factors. The average time from arrival at the exit port to loading is around 3 weeks.

ACL Grimaldi is the shipping line we use most often for RORO transport to Nigeria. Their terminals can be found at all major US East Coast ports. Customs clearance at these ports can take anywhere from a few days to 1 month. After your vehicle has loaded, ACL Grimaldi notifies us of the vessel name and the estimated time of arrival to the destination. As soon as we have this confirmation, we will notify you by email and change the vehicle status in your profile.

Once the vessel sets sail from the US, ACL Grimaldi will issue the original bill of lading and send it to our office. If the title has been returned by US Customs, the title will be included along with the bill of lading. If not, the title will be sent at a later date. As soon as we receive the documents at our office, we will upload a copy of the original bill of lading to your profile and send the documents via DHL to the mailing address from your consignee form. If there is an outstanding balance on the vehicle, we will keep the documents in our office until the payment is made.

Waiting for Apple to crash: iPhone maker will flood the world with electric cars

Taiwan’s Foxconn Technology Group has unveiled its own open source MIH electric vehicle platform. New models from Yulon Motor (owner of the infamous Luxgen brand) will be the first to try it on, but in the future, every tenth electric car in the world will have the MIH platform – at least Foxconn management counts on this.

Foxconn is the main assembler of the legendary iPhones of Apple, just not everyone knows that Apple itself does not produce anything, but orders components and assembly from contractors. Judging by the overwhelming criticism of the recently introduced iPhone 12, Foxconn’s smartphone capacities may not be fully loaded in the future, but the Taiwanese company is already on the path of diversification and spoke about its Napoleonic plans in the auto business.

Last Friday, Foxconn Technology Group showed the world its own modular electric vehicle platform MIH (the manufacturer did not tell how this abbreviation stands), which it intends to sell to everyone, and the first named client was the Taiwanese company Yulon Motor. There are other customers, but Foxconn does not want to disclose their names yet, although at the beginning of the year Reuters announced the intention of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to create a joint venture with Foxconn for the production of electric vehicles.

BMW continues to develop a new flagship crossover: “ordinary” roof and three rows of seats

The Bavarian manufacturer is gearing up for the next SUV, the X8. It is expected to hit the market at the end of 2021.

Rumors of a new flagship crossover in the BMW lineup emerged after the X7 iPerformance show car was unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. There is still no official confirmation, but it is expected that the new product will be a crossover named X8, because in the current X-line there is a SUV with numbers from 1 to 7. It is also assumed that the model will have a full-fledged “hot” version with an increase in the form the letters M (all crossovers of the brand have them, except for the X1).

Back in the spring of this year, information about the names of new products was indirectly confirmed by an application that the Bavarian manufacturer filed with the German patent office: we are talking about the right to a new trademark – X8 M. It is assumed that the “ordinary” X8 will be released at the end of next year, and its »Version will appear in 2022.

Audi may equip e-tron GT RS with three-engine powerplant

The total system power of the German-made electric sports car is expected to be 710 hp.

The first electric car of the Audi brand was the e-tron crossover, created on the MLB Evo trolley, followed by its coupe-like version – the e-tron Sportback SUV. The next will be the e-tron GT sedan: the German company will present its serial version before the end of this year. In addition, as it became known recently, the “four-door” will also appear in a “charged” version with the RS prefix to the name.

The forerunner of the novelty is the Audi e-tron GT concept, which was presented back in 2018. For a long time, almost nothing was heard about the project, but a couple of weeks ago the manufacturer published pictures of the prototype in camouflage film. Judging by these photos, the production Audi e-tron GT will be slightly different from the show car shown a couple of years ago.

On the exterior, mainly the details have changed. The head optics have become a little larger, the shape of the side windows has slightly changed, in addition, traditional door handles have appeared. At the rear, the LED lights, bumper and diffuser look different. The company did not publish pictures of the interior of the prototype of the future novelty.
