As at March 2014, the BBC reported that Nigerians spent over $6.5 billion dollars on private jets, making it one of the fastest-growing luxury jet industries in the world. The following are private jets in Nigeria and their owners.

1 – ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU A former governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, he purchased a second jet around May 2014. Reportedly a brand-new Bombadier Global Express XRS valued at $50 million (N10 billion), it is believed the jet was extensively used during the 2015 presidential campaigns which later saw to the victory of Muhammadu Buhari.

2 – ORJI UZOR KALU
A billionaire and one of the few Nigerians on Forbes list, he is the former governor of Abia State and chairman of the conglomerate, Slok Group. Kalu tops the chart of private jet owners in Nigeria – he has five, the largest private jet fleet in Nigeria, and in the early hours of Thursday, 18 th September 2014, his fifth jet, a Gulfstream G650, made its maiden entry into the Nigerian airspace after it touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos. The following are Kalu’s jets: GULFSTREAM G650: He reportedly bought this for $72 million (N11.5 billion) making it most probably the most expensive jet in Nigeria. Even the French-made Falcon 7X of the Presidential Air Fleet bought by President Goodluck Jonathan does not come close – that cost just $50 million or N10 billion. GULFSTREAM IV (he has/had three of this). BOMBARDIER’S GLOBAL EXP XRS.

3 – SENATOR ALI MODU SHERIFF Like Kalu, Sheriff is also a former governor of Borno State. Now one of the most prominent politicians in Nigeria, Sheriff is also ahead of the pack with a total of four jets, as follows: GULFSTREAM G650, Dornier (he has/had three of this).

4 – BISHOP DAVID OYEDEPO
He is the head of the Winners Chapel, one of Nigeria’s most popular churches and he has a total of four jets: GULFSTREAM G550 VG450 BOMBARDIER 604: Registered as Bombardier Challenger 604 (N664D) – D. Oyedepo / Dominion Air / World Mission Agency, see photo below:

5 – ALIKO DANGOTE
He is the richest black in the world and he has two jets: BOMBARDIER EXPRESS The aircraft are registered as BAe 125-700 (5N-BEX) – A. Dangote BAe 125-1000 (5N-DGN)

6 – OTUNBA MIKE ADENUGA He is the second richest man in Nigeria and has three private jets: FALCON 7X (same type as the one in the Presidential Air Fleet, purchased by former President Goodluck Jonathan, costs $50 million or N10 billion naira) BOMBARDIER (see photo below) The aircraft are registered as: BAe 125-600 (5N- EMA), Bombardier Challenger 604 (VP-BJM) – M. Adenuga / Southern Air Bombardier Global Express XRS (VP-CNA).

7 – RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT
Purchased by the former governor of oil-rich Rivers State, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi. It is a Brazilian-
made Embraer Legacy said to be for the state government (Embraer EMB135BJ Legacy 600 (5N-
RSG) and a Bombardier (Bombardier Global 5000 (N565RS).

Airport, Abuja. It is named ‘Our Lady Queen of Victories’.

8 – AKWA IBOM STATE GOVERNMENT
Purchased by the former governor of the oil-rich Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, it is a Gulfstream, also said to belong to the state government. Gulfstream G450 (N224BH) is the name of registration of the jet. No picture

9 – PASTOR ENOCH ADEBOYE He is the head of the Redeemed Church of God and owns a Gulfstream GIV (N707EA) registered as E. Adeboye / Emmanuel Aviation.

10 – NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT The immediate former governor of Niger State, Muazu Babangida Aliyu cruised around in a Gulfstream V. Governor Aliyu celebrating his 50th birthday inside a private jet in November 2012. He was roundly condemned for this.

11 – FOLORUNSHO ALAKIJA The richest woman in Nigeria owns a Bombardier Express business jet (Bombardier Global Express XRS (VP-CEO). No picture
12 – AYO ORITSEJAFOR The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria. He owns a Bombardier jet (registered as Bombardier Challenger 601 (N431CB) which he said was a gift

Governors gallivanting around in Private jets while their citizens are roaming around without Slippers, Not sure of seeing tomorrow because of incessant Boko Haram shelling.
