SUG ELECTION!!!!!

VOTES WISELY!!!!!!

Every year in year out, we troupe en mass to vote for individuals who always claim they want to represent our interest, fight on our behalf for our right, demand for a better welfare for us, maintain a favourable, bearable and stable school fees for us, demand for a conducive learning environment for us, secure for us a befitting hostel accommodation. But to my utmost bewildereness all these promises had always remained on the campaign slogans and chants and that's the purpose it had always served .

In the last THREE ACADEMIC CALENDER'S of The Polytechnic, Ibadan the "APPOINTED" and elected presidents had been SUSPENDED for one reason or the other. This is not unconnected with their act of greediness, non-performance and and males ministration from these individuals that was given the mandate to lead the entire students of "Citadel of Technological Innovations" .

The first of them was Com. Muyiwa for 2012/13 session who was suspended for the mismanagement of SUG fund at his disposal as then. He never return to office untill he graduated because he was unable to resolve the issue with the school management.

The following year 2013/14 academic session, Com. Iyiola Mubaraq a.k.a MB was elected the new SUG president from Pub Admin. But few weeks into his administration, he had started had issues, misunderstanding with the Students Representative Council (SRC) concerning the issue of account management and the running of Aluta bus. The SRC tried vigorously to impeach or suspend him but all in vain because Com. Iyiola is still on the good book of school management. But this will not last long because Mubaraq soon lost the support of the school management he earlier enjoy following a protest he allegedly colluded with then SUG Gen. Sec. I.e Sega, the Senators (SRC members) quickly used the opportunity to swing into action and secured the backing of school management to SUSPEND Mubaraq and Sega for improper conducts, maladministration, and disrespect the school's constituted authority. Following this development, the Treasurer was then swore in as acting president who led the students for three months but was also later accused of looting about THREE MILLION naira from SUG treasury at a congress organised after Mubaraq had been reinstated back to office .

Again the current and outgoing SUG President Com. Raji Sanyaolu a.k.a Rajoo (a southerner for the first time in ten years to become SUG President ) had been suspended. for a while for also misconduct, nonchalant attitude and insensitive to the plight of his followers though I heard recently he had been reinstated back to office .

But the focus of this writer is that as we are going into another poll this Monday, let's make sure we vote for credibility, accountability, workability, responsiveness, transformation and purposeful transparency in the incoming government on campus.

Do not vote base on sentiment, religious, ethnicity or friendship because all these tend to ruin our collective at efforts at having a credible and purposeful leadership at the helm of affairs if the SUG TPI.
