kenny987:I think your last paragraph conveys my message. I'm not in support of white elephant plans for pilgrimage; my assertion is that, in as much as we detest frivolous expenses on religion, it cannot be totally disregarded. |

Napoleone:Ever since the Treaty of Westphalia of 1648, what has been the relationship like between the state and religion in Europe? I'm sure will agree with me that the state now has power more than religion. |

vivaciousvivi:I commend his action; but he should go one step further in totally eliminating any FG sponsorship of pilgrimage. The church and the State should not mix. The money could be used for other important purposes. Sai Nigeria 1 Like |

CFCfan: I quite agree with you to an extent. What would happen to persons working in Ministries and Parastatals in Abuja or are employed by the FG itself though? |

vivaciousvivi:They will have to pay for the trip themselves. I don't think they'll be entitled to estacode since pilgrimage is no more an official trip. |

OrlandoOwoh:Get me right, the fact that the bond between state and religion is not as strong as before doesn't remove the fact that the two are inseparable. |

asamaigho: On the contrary, dem sabi wetin dem dey do. APC officials always believe they are smart. Buhari cancelled government delegation but didnt cancel the original Hajj and Christian pilgrimage. He even allowed people to use the opportunity to siphon dollars at N160 exchange rate. . . Now who are those people given these oportunites to go to Mecca and Jerusalem, are they not all government and politically connected individuals? These guys are thieves. You need to understand that all these people praising Buhari are APC employees. They get paid to spread lies and confuse the general opinion of the people. |
