The Capital: There used to be a dagger in Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s smile. These days, that deadly blade has attained the notoriety of a butcher’ s carving knife. Oftentimes, the Lagos governor uses it like a medieval marauder would, a tomahawk. But Governor Ambode is not a marauder neither is he a Viking, yet

he carries on like a rampaging warlord avowed to walloping and hounding his predecessor, Babatunde Fashola, till the latter ends up disgraced or bites the dust.

Fashola, a former governor of Lagos State is experiencing the worst moments in his political career no doubt except his successor and incumbent Lagos governor, Ambode, inflicts a more devastating and sinister blow on Fashola.

In furtherance of his vendetta against Fashola, Governor Ambode has directed that his name be removed from the list and hall of fame of former Lagos governors. While no one would fault Governor Ambode for harbouring resentment against Fashola over the latter’s undisguised hatred for him and antagonism to his candidacy and emergence as Lagos governor, it need be said that Governor Ambode need to watch it before he totally mutates into a grotesque and pitiful element on the seat of power.

The hallmark of any great leader or statesman is his ability to rise above petty beef and forgive seemingly unforgivable slights by cronies and sworn enemies alike. Governor Ambode shouldn’t have removed Fashola’s name from the roll call of Lagos governors. Although watched and listened in horror as Fashola denigrated and dishonoured his estranged benefactor and political godfather, Bola Tinubu, to whom Ambode also owes allegiance, it is not enough reason for Governor Ambode to pay Fashola back in similar manner. Sources within the State House bemoan Ambode’s seeming desperation to witch-hunt and destroy his predecessor, stressing that it could lead to the incumbent governor’s destruction in the long run.

The Capital investigations revealed that Fashola’s removal from the roll call of ex-Lagos governors was triggered by the ongoing beef and silent war between him and his successor. Fashola, it would be recalled deliberately denied his predecessor and godfather, Tinubu, due honour as he gave his valedictory speech. It was the final straw in a catalogue of intrigues and onslaughts against Tinubu by Fashola. What the former Lagos governor didn’t foresee however, was his imminent humiliation by his incoming successor. Since Governor Ambode assumed office as Lagos governor, the media has been awash with revelations of his predecessor, Fashola’s outrageous misconduct and abuse of official powers.

Tinubu versus Fasola
Now Fasola versus Ambode

I was told that if not for ''one-Nigeria'', some folks would be killing and eating themselves, reminiscent of the Oyo, Ijesha and Kiriji internecine wars of old times. I understand also that it is for the fear of such internecine wars that the same people literally invited the British to colonize them, while others in the E and N were fighting against colonialism. True or false? shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

Meaning if you have the guts to do something in the first place, you should have the guts to sustain your initial action. It should be ''the more you look, the more you see'', and not ''the more you look the less you see''. Duh!!!!!!!
