Bundle for home internet , Tv, home phone and security is about $200 a month in the US. That means Starlink in Nigeria is relatively cheap.

Measure the total amount of goods and services that 1 naira can buy in the US.

When you compare income across both countries, you should adjust for such price differences.

Federal Minimum wage on paper is $7.25/hour but I have never seen anybody who makes such. The least I have seen is #13/ hour.
And most people work 40 hours in a week. So you have $520 a week times 4 weeks which is about $2080 a month, less tax.
And yes, I know all these, $2080 ( #1.58m) is bigger than #30k ( $40) a month.

Even with that, the $200 a month home internet in the US is 10% of their minimum wage a month while a #20k monthly internet would only be an equivalent of 10% of #200k.
Most people, including self employed in Nigeria make more than that amount in a month.

My brother that les tax, some people will be thinking is 10% flat rate across board. Please explain further before people start Japa ooo. please let people understand is completely different from cell phone bills. It's not easy as people thought as of yesterday my friend is trying to hire people for his poultry farm in delaware we were unable to find anybody to work for $500 after tax a week with free rent on that farm. Ten people showed up and no one took the offer despite the accommodations, while only working 6hrs a day 5 days a week. Matter of fact we even reduce the hour to 4 with additional $40 making $540, we still couldn't get anyone to take the offar

To pay for starlink in Nigeria they use the black market rate for the conversion. So the startup and monthly cost is even more than is being mentioned here

The use the black market rate. It's being mentioned in the starlink thread. Makes it out of reach for majority.

will the mentioned payment options charge the official rate or will they charge the black market rates?

This is the kind of nonsense you read from people who are so far away and are so "divorced" from reality.

Most people make more than 200k a month and a lot of married women are sleeping with men just to be able to pay their children's school fees.

The fact that you talk about minimum wage in the US and now shift to 200k here in Nigeria shows how clueless you are. Is 200k the minimum wage in Nigeria?

Do you have any idea the number of married men who have nothing to do and were hustling Npower of 30k?

Since people are earning more than 200k in Nigeria, I wonder what you're still doing where you are. You certainly can make multiples of that back here.

Public service work of 30k is not the only work in Nigeria. In fact they account for 2117k of the labor force. There are more informal undocumented self employed individuals who earn much more than the #30k. The total employed workforce in Nigeria is close to 60M. Which makes the public service workers just 0.035%. Many are daily earners including bus drivers, artisan, food vendors shop owners, keke operators etc. None of these people make less than #10k a day, which is even about #250k a month (excluding Sundays). Now tell me how the #30k minimum wage is a true reflection of average wage?
The truth is, you can live a good life in Nigeria
if you work hard and curtail unnecessary expenses.
If you can’t make it in Nigeria, you would get a hard time finding your bearings abroad, fact!

It all comes down to value. If you find value in Starlink, go for it. If you don't, don't worry about.
Value is so much more than price. In this case, you have to look at comparison analysis. How much do you spend on your data for the past 1 year? Are you happy with the service? How reliable are the network? If MTN or Glo does it for you, that is fine.
What Musk brought is option. You now have an option to get unlimited data in Nigeria. The benefits are immense both for individuals and businesses.
20 years ago, most people did not see the value in cellphone but today, most can't go without their phone.
