Khalesi:

I'll advise that you shouldn't base your application on hearsay. Create your CIC account, build your profile and answer the questionnaire to see what forms and fields that will be populated, then you can know how to group related documents in a field. Don't worry if you change your mind about any upload you can always remove the file and reattach. They're all editable (even the questionnaire) until you submit and make payment. I strongly recommend you go through parts 6-9 (if you don't have the time you can skim for info that pertains to you). There's good information on this thread. After reading and you still have grey areas, then you can revert here for clarification.

Wow..Thank you dearie for the tips. I will be buzzing you often...lol...hope you dont mind...Meanwhile, how do you register the baby in sch wen u r not yet physically there?...kisses to the little one
Khalesi:

Thanks Chigoziri. My girl will also be turning 2 next year. When you're ready to apply, while filling the initial questionnaire, you'll need to state that your child will accompany you, that you will pay for her application charges, that you'll fill her forms on her behalf and the application will generate all the forms you both need for the app. Your child's status will be as a visitor.

The first thing to do once you decide which province you'll be schooling at is to register your baby on the central wait list for licensed child care (that's if you'll be needing a day care). The queue is usually very long and sometimes it takes up to a year before it gets to your turn. I didn't do that and now I'll have to make do with alternate means.

Hi all,

A friend of mine just got her PR through spousal sponsorship. With the new foreign currency reforms in Nigeria, where can she get Canadian dollars for her to travel?

Thanks

I just wanna tell you guys...Akin and all that your GP isn't the only thing schools consider in the admission process. I know someone with a 4.38 who was denied at UOttawa yet someone with a 3.52 was admitted. The key is having volunteer experience + work experience but I would say more emphasis on volunteer and your statement of purpose. These people don't really care about your GP...how have you applied the knowledge you have gained to your community and life? Its not just about heaping degrees on your CV.

Also for those who want to study but lack funds, before applying look for the list of professors, know their area of interest and if they have received research grants for any project (particularly research related to Africa). Tailor your research proposal to meet their grants and inform them in your statement of purpose that you would love to work with that professor as you are very much interested in that research area and as an African you are seeking means by which to develop your nation bla bla bla. With the whites, all you have to do is ask and you shall receive. Use your African heritage to your advantage.

Goodluck.

thanks cocolav.....
i'm not even thinking of a research masters, that way i wont require a professor or funding. I hope it
makes it less competitive to get admission.

the thing is most MENG don't request for statement of purpose (atleast for uottawa). How else can i sell myself.

I would just apply for the admission sha and see what happens.

Yes no statement of purpose but your CV is requested as well as letters of recommendation. Cocolav is right they don't just look at CGPA. With my 4.18, I've had 5years field engineering experience and with one good letter of recommendation from my undergraduate supervisor and another recommendation from my supervisor at work. It's a total package. So just seek areas where your strength lies and portray on your CV.

You welcome. To register a child to attend a government licensed day care, you find the website of the province you intend to study at, create an account in your child's name and register. Since I'm still in Naija, I used my school/faculty address. Then from that portal you'll be presented with a list of child care centers very close to your institution. You can then click apply on the ones that appeal to you. When a slot becomes available you'll be contacted.

Sir, I would rather advise you to prepare one and contact one or two guys in here willing to assist to proof read your SOP. Coming here to say you need a very strong and mind blowing SOP for an urgent application on Monday sounds very very funny as well as annoying. Truth be told, from now till next 5 years, you'll never get any SOP and no one will even respond to your request as there's no robot that autogenerates SOP on this thread.

No offense intended, just an advice.

Hello guys, for those asking questions that have been repeated over and over again on this thread, people only volunteer out of their good hearts to help people here, pls don't take that act of good will for granted. I'll advise you to endeavor to read thru some pages back so you can ask most relevant questions and get swift responses.

Congrats to all that recently got their TRVs, may God bless all your efforts in Canada.

To be honest with you sir, it's not feasible at all... If you already had a degree plus some years of work experience in naija, Express entry would have been your best bet.

If you've not done your first degree yet, I'll advise you write JAMB, get admission into the university, keep your dreams of going to Canada alive, put in your best in the course of your study, I can assure you that upon the completion of your undergrad in Naija, you'll have lots of opportunities for a good future (funded Masters degree) outside Naija.

Lastly, if your O'level was outstanding, you may consider applying for the Mastercard foundation scholarship.

All the best sir.

M. Eng is a money making channel for Canadian universities, they don't give you any form of funding /scholarship. You are on your own bro.

No offense intended, but I wonder why people behave like that. If you can't explain why you wanna study a course, why not just sit your ass back here in Naija? Some People need help with virtually everything! Habba, that's not fair at all.
Statement of Purpose is just an Essay or a writing to explain why you personally wanna study a particular course, period! Why contract someone to help you write about why you personally wanna study a course? We ain't Joseph, who can interpret someone else's dream abeg!

Now you've publicized your intentions here on Nairaland, just imagine a VO or one of CIC's contractors being here on Nairaland and reading your post here.
Next time, just PM an active participant on this thread and ask him/her your controversial question(s).
You can go for express entry. Read more about it on CIC site.

She can get BTA of about 4000 usd at her bank in Naija and she will change USD to CAD when she gets to Canada. It's better to change money at bank because you'll be sure it is not fake and then it is cheaper. All you need is your visa and confirmed booking (ticket). Buying CAD from naija may be difficult, expensive and/or risky (fake).

Hello House,
Please i will like to ask this concern question.
I have heard and read Canada and US share immigration data information of immigrant applicants.
How do they check this? Does it mean when you details or biometric information is enter into their system, your details in US data pops up or until they do a cross check of your details in US database.
I am asking because i made a mistake in my details in visa application i did to US embassy, i will like to correct it in Canada visa application, but i have scared of any contradictions of information.

Pls house i will appreciate good and experience response to this

Thanks
