US pop star Madonna has left Malawi on a private jet after failing to adopt a second child from the country. Last week a Malawian court rejected the adoption over residency rules but the singer's lawyer has said that she will appeal against the ruling. The 50-year-old singer applied to adopt Chifundo James, whose name translates into English as Mercy, on Monday. Chifundo is in the same orphanage that previously housed David Banda, Madonna's first adopted child Opinion It is high time she starts considering children from other country like Nigeria, S/Leone, Liberia etc. Haba na only Malawi Children dey

Do you want her to adopt you? Or don't you think it is shameful that your continent is poor or destitute? Would you like to be reading news papers with other colleagues from other countries ( while you are somewhere outside Nigeria) that someone is going to your own country to adopt children? How does her adoption of one or two children help us from our situation or rather that we should think well and elect good, reasonable, active leaders that are capable of thinking and solving our own problem from the root causes? |

OmoNaijaUK: What are you on about? Even in the most developed countries, there still exist poor/orphaned/homeless children who need to be adopted. Africa has its problems, yes but because a pop star comes to Africa to adopt doesn't increase or reduce the problems. Its all a matter of choice innit?  |
