Buhari Bows To Pressure, Reverses Ban On 113 Oil Vessels by Nobody: 9:39pm On Sep 11, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari has lifted the ban he imposed on 113 crude oil tankers from operating in the nation’s territorial waters, following their alleged role in corruption and the theft of Nigerian crude oil.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, conveyed Buhari’s pardon to commodity traders and shipbrokers in a letter, according to a Financial Times news report.

President Muhammadu Buhari issued the directive allowing the entry of incoming ships subject to a guarantee that they “will not be utilised for any illegal activity whatsoever”.

The report said the NNPC letter which was dated September 8, 2015, stated that the president had undertaken a review of the vessels and their operations.

President Buhari had issued the ban on July 15, a few weeks after he assumed office as President.

INTERTANKO, the global oil tanker industry association in a protest letter called on the President to lift the ban since there was “no evidence or grounds” to back its allegations.

“INTERTANKO protests in the strongest possible way that these bans should be lifted with immediate effect until grounds and evidence for the ban have been given to each vessel and vessel owner/operator, and the owner/operator has had an opportunity to respond,” General Counsel Michele White said in a letter to the NNPC, dated July 22.

For those who are uninformed, the reversal was necessary because of the adverse effects of the ban on our economy.
Any listening and analytical man will toll the line of PMB.
No matter how you look at the reversal, the welfare of the people should be the Supreme law

Was ds scenario not in place b4 d ban? Was it not clear that d ban would have 'adverse effects' in d first place? Why place d country in a precarious position then recant thereby looking absolutely confused? Normal ppl always seek for and strive to achieve a stronger position/upper hand and not deliberately box oneself into weak positions due to avoidable decisions.

A listening and analytical man will carry out due diligence first before issuing and implementing any decision so he can stand by it and defend it without being backed into a corner.

If they decide to sue Nigeria for loss of earnings caused by an unsubstantiated ban is that not more avoidable loss n stress?

There is a very big problem if Buhari continues this way. After thought knee jack approach. He has applied this method virtually in everything he has so far done. He believes everything and everybody is corrupt except him and his party faithfuls. From the way he is handling corruption fight to business relation with international community.

You disband a system bcuz you think they are corrupt, when your boxed into a corner you bring them back. Now they will think you can only bark and not bite. They hold the ace. The noise on the pages of papers about fighting corruption, by the time nobody is jailed in the next 2yrs people will begin to see him as a toothless dog. This is the more reason he shud av formed his cabinet where he will have trusted people that understand the system and the best approach to the issue without puting the country in limbo.

If he thinks a system is corrupt u dont sanitize it by this gestapo approach. let everything be institutionalized by that it becomes easy tracking fraudsters.

They should be encouraged to merge, this will allow for the necessary control PMB is looking for.

(Reduce the gateways and improve the control, reduce the numbers of chefs and the soup is sweet)

Some people be talking like certified idi.ots .

When PMB issued the ban, did he tell you that it was going to be forever? It was to serve as warning and some kind of punitive measure to all the illegal activities those Ships have been engaging in in the past.

And the government may just have achieved it's aim. The ships are being readmitted with an individual guarantee from each never to be used in economic sabotage of Nigeria's crude oil. Now they know that a new Sheriff is in town who will not tolerate nonsense. Now they know it is not business as usual.

So you certified idio.ts should keep on wailing while Baba keeps on doing what Nigerians elected him for, which is to bring back sanity back into the system.

Do u know the meaning of wailing? People are calling u wailers instead of u to reject it some are still proud with the name.
Let me help u to define it according to online definition.
.
verb (used without object)
to utter a prolonged, inarticulate,
mournful cry, usually high-pitched or
clear-sounding, as in grief or suffering:
to wail with pain.
The question now is are u bereaved?
