Anti Corruption Campaign Is A Battle For Nigerian Soul - Buhari by oluwatomisin93(m): 6:50pm On Sep 13, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday said that the anti-
corruption campaign of his administration is a fight for the
soul and substance of the nation.
The President stated that corruption is so endemic in the
country that it constituted a parallel system, noting that it
was the reason for poor policy choices, waste and bare-
faced theft of public resources.
Buhari said this in his goodwill message to the Conference
of Catholic Bishops of Nigeria in Port Harcourt.
The President who was represented by Vice President Yemi
Osinbajo said graft had been cited as the main reason for
the prevalence of poverty in the midst of plenty and waste of
resources in the country, according to a statement by the
Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Vice
President, Laolu Akande.
Buhari said, “Corruption in our country is so endemic that it
constitutes a parallel system. It is the primary reason for
poor policy choices, waste and of course bare- faced theft of
public resources.
“Our fight against corruption is not just a moral battle for
virtue and righteousness in our land, it is a fight for the soul
and substance of our nation.”
Giving an insight into the way corruption destroys the
nation, the President told the Second Plenary of the
Conference that “it is the main reason why a potentially
prosperous country struggles to feed itself and provide jobs
for millions.”
Buhari attributed infant and maternal mortality, and deaths
from preventable diseases to the greed and corruption of a
few.

Buhari is totally spot on there by saying its endemic in Nigeria. I sincerly hope the president wins this war against corruption because it would help solve a lot of problems the Nation is presently going through. I just pray he uses this opportunity to sanitize the Nation.

This Daura Dumbass joined Nigerian army officer’s cadet cadre in 1962 without a certificate via nepotistic endeavor of Tafawa Balewa and NPC. There is no corruption worse than nepotistic endeavor were unqualified nonentities are granted free pass while qualified chaps are denied the opportunity. It was on this backdrop that January 15, 1966 coup was precipitated. It was a revolution meant to stop corruptible practices such nepotism, graft, favoritism, embezzlement, etc. It is unfortunate that one of those who fought fiercely to stop the anti-corruption revolution in 1966 was no less a person than Muhammadu Buhari.

2. What has his ranting got to do with the topic? Just a sign of frustration.

He did not mention anything about the PDP, there is no need roping them in.
He merely took us down memory lane, and except a person has chosen to be narrow minded, aside sounding angry, the points he made should not be waved away with a side hand.
For all we know, President Buhari's admittance into the NA might have been a product of Nepotism and not merit, as uptil this day, we are yet to see a copy of said certificate. We are only told it is with the NA.
I have always said that if Mr Buhari is true to his words on sincerity and integrity, there are certain needless controversies he would have put to rest. The certificate saga is one of them.

2. His anger (if he truly is/was) is not far-fetched. The topic speaks about a 2015 president Buhari who is so keen on driving away corruption, meanwhile, according to Duru1's opinion, this is the same man who was admitted to the NA based on nepotistic tendencies, an extension of which led to his overthrow in 1966.

You are a dumbass fool. There was no PDP in 1985 and there are many Nigerians in existence before the formation of PDP. You are a pitiable stiff that should not pass as a compatriot.

The entire argument would not have been based on hearsay if the writer had opposing view. By the way, has the Daura Dumabass disappointed anybody since his appointments are strictly based on corruptible pedigree. He has taken nepotistism and favoritism to a new height and he has been proud of it. He even appointed his niece and other cronies to juicy and sensitive positions in federal government of Nigeria. I guess you hardly know the essence of corruption except looting of money. I am not surprise at your intellectual short-range.

Whose certificate have you also seen if I may ask? Did you see Obasanjo's own or is nepotism nothern while merit is southern?

Did Buhari not already admit that his certificate had been destroyed during the course of his military career and sworn an affidavit stating so and referring to those copies duly submitted to the army as evidence of academic qualification?

Did the electoral umpire have any issues with this affidavit?

Did the army deny he did not have results tendered before entry into the army? Or whose responsibility is it to safely keep documents tendered by the admitted students?

Did his school not release a statement of result that tallied with what the army had in their own entry admission documents?

Did the school not also release the Cambridge master sheet with the same results already publicised by the army?

Did the Cambridge master sheet not contain results of other known and acknowledged classmates as truly scored by each candidate?

Did the other names of the classmates not buttress the widely circulated class picture of Buhari and his mates in their graduating year?

Did all the false stories about the North not offering local languages as a subject in that year not get shredded by the replies of Cambridge to queries on that subject matter?

More like suppositions and wild claims beget silence. Buhari will not be distracted by the irresponsible PDP.

I laugh at the emboldened.

Even though he didn't need to show anyone his certificate, he did show it to the whole world. And anyone who was not satisfied was free to go to court which some PDP members did. How PMB got to the NA is very irrelevant and unnecessary at this point in time. It may have been necessary for campaign but not anymore.

I have always said that if Mr Buhari is true to his words on sincerity and integrity, there are certain needless controversies he would have put to rest. The certificate saga is one of them.
Let those who see his certificate issue as a controversy continue to see it that way. As far as most Nigerians are concerned, that chapter is PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Anyone is very free to be angry, it's their choice nah. Nigerians have made a choice on who they believe can solve the country's problems including tackling corruption. So, continuing to lament and question how Buhari got into the NA in the 60's is no longer a smart way for anyone to go. It only shows how painful and frustrated the person is, having failed in an attempt to stop him from becoming the president.

Now, you must agree that lamenting, cursing and complaining about qualifications of the president or how he got to the NA is not what will return power to PDP. It is the president's performance in office after four years in addition to the type of an alternative presented by the opposition that will. Not so?

And this Obasanjo eventually led the forces that got Ojukwu running to Abidjan while they conquered his Biafra. Same Obasanjo would become military head of state and democratic president, 2 great heights this same Ojukwu aspired to but fell short true to stature.

At least, we know Buhari excelled in his own military cadet course in the UK and senior military courses in the USA.

Where are most Nigerians always at the wrong end of intellectual exercise? The forces that got Ojukwu running, if it will make you happy, was led by Gen. Yakubu Gowon. It is only in a zoo such as Nigeria that ninnies such as Obasanjo or Buhari would become military head of state and democratic president.

Sometimes I don't grasp your angle completely.

One moment you are sounding like a patriotic Nigerian who wants all elements of corruption, cheating, wastefulness and forgery out.

The other moment I see you subtly encouraging these acts as it pertains Mr President....

Are you saying that since it was raised then and for obvious reasons was swept under the carpet, then it's not worthy of scrutiny by discerning minds?

So let's say, He lied his way into power, and there are nagging issues on ground which haven't been flatly ironed out, because he's there now, those who pick on such can go burn in hades?

1. Please show me a copy of this certificate which was shown to the whole world. I need to see for myself. Or are you talking about the oluwolerized certificate premium times published? Which PMB never accepted a his own? If the Nigerian army truly saw the certificate - as mr-I-have-no-skeleton-in-my-cupboard, why didn't he order that a copy be released?

2. One moment you claim you are not affiliated to any political party and the other you are taunting those whom you perceive belong to one, you presume that everyone who has refused to be fooled ny the antics of this government is a PDP power hungry mofo who just wants to say everything say-able to get APC out. I'm confuse here, tbh.

3. I do agree with you on that.
For one side, I'll say...so far so bad.
For the other side, I'll say..so far so uncertain.

So I guess Gowon as military president led the forces while sitting on his favourite chair in Dodan barracks Ikoyi.

Obasanjo took over the 3rd Marine Commando from Benjamin Adekunle. They secured the victories that eventually got Ojukwu to fear for his rich life and up and leave. That was when he realised there was nothing romantic about dying a hero.

The Biafran government eventually surrendered to Obasanjo.

What were you yapping about intellectual exercise again?
