This is not to insult anybody especially the 'Church people'. I have observed throughout the Holy writ (from Genesis to Revelation) that marriage ceremony was never done in the Tabernacle of the Congregation (at the time of Moses in the wilderness), The Temple of the Lord (at the time of the Prophets), The Synagogues of the Jew (before and at the time of Christ) and in the early Church (at the time of the Apostles and after Christ).

Were people not marrying then? Of course they were. They mostly did this in a traditional way - receiving blessings (both spiritual and material) from the parents or guardians of the intending couple. This is generally called the traditional wedding and this was widely practised in the bible days. Jesus even supported this by attending a wedding event in Cana of Galilee. That event was never conducted in the Synagogue of the Jews - it was an outdoor thing. The early Church was so occupied with the Ministry of the Word, Prayer and Evangelism and did not set up any special Marriage Committee (MC) to provide rules of thumb for the followers of Christ. There was no Marriage Committee Department in the Administrative Organogram of the early Church.

Here is my submission; the Modern Church should remove any human arrangement (MC, Church Wedding inclusive) and allow believers to marry in the liberty of Christ. Believers should sincerely seek the face of God before marrying anybody. Mature believers should help and encourage the weak or the inexperienced ones in this regard. This can be done without any legalism. What is your own view?
