Manchester United cruise over to the Estadio do Dragao for their UCL quarter-final return leg against FC Porto, 19.45 GMT.
Aggregate scoreline: Manchester United 2 - 2 FC Porto.

FC Porto dashed Manchester United's hopes of a 1st leg win last week Tuesday when Mariano found himself unmarked got a last minute equalizer. FC Porto outplayed United in the 1st half, and remained quite good for the remainder of the game.
Their skill and quick passing game wasn't something United found easy to keep up with then, and definitely their game won't be any different now. And, FC Porto are yet to lose to an English side at the Stadium of Dragons. Surely they will be bent on keeping this record. With their attack force in top shape, as well as the rest o fthe squad, it's going to be one heck of a fight for a place in the semis.

Manchester United have been barely hanging on in their recent games, relying for the most part on late goals, and with a horrifyingly leaky defense. The team managed a 2 - 1 win over Sunderland in the EPL on Saturday after a poor performance by United standard, with youngster Macheda coming on as a sub to salvage things.
Now they've got their work more than cut out for them in this return leg. Anything less than an outright win will see them saying goodbye to the UCL this season.
There seems to be some hope for the defense though.  .  .Sir Alex has confirmed that Rio Ferdinand could return from a groin injury to feature in this game against FC Porto. Also, Rafael da Silva is back in training and may feature. This will give the United backline a much needed boost.
FC Porto will not break easily, that's for sure. Question is if United will break easily.  .  .I'm sure we'll have Macheda on the bench too grin Perhaps Sir Alex should just give him a starting place and let him blast in 3 goals by the end of 1st half.

Gawd!i don't think i'll be able to watch this one.i mean it's not as if we're not gonna score in porto.i have a problem with a defense line that has conceded so much goals in a space of 5 games.i recommend a 4-2-4 formation with anderson n fletcher protecting the leakage.we can make the semis, only if our defense line get their act right
Yes,ManU can!

It is already known to the wise that Porto is going through. Manure will try over there but will fail. The red devil has been cast out by virtue of what history tells. (eyonigger).

@propheyo,

Which history says man U will crash out. Did u people not say same when United drew juve at OT in 1999 only to triumph 3-2 in turin. Same way you people said Mourinho would knock United out with Inter Milan. United will beat Porto 3-1

Re: UCL: FC Porto(0) Vs Manchester United(1) [Agg:2-3] On Wednesday 15th April by elcid: 9:33am On Apr 14, 2009
Tough call but United will sail through. United has a great deal of recent Euro experience to show up when it matters most. While Porto only needs a low score draw(1-1) to go through their greatest undoing will be to think that all they need do is not concede . It will be tough but my money is on United.

the showdown at the Stadium Of Dragons . . . shocked shocked

are you guys not scared. the Red Devils will surely be devoured at the Dragao.

• Porto have never lost at home to English opposition in eleven matches in UEFA club competition, six of them at the Estádio do Dragão.

• The Portuguese champions have won all bar one of the eight ties in UEFA club competition when they have drawn the first leg away from home, including their first knockout round triumph against Club Atlético de Madrid this season. Their sole defeat came at the hands of FC Bayern München in the 1990/91 European Champion Clubs' Cup quarter-finals, the German side winning 2-0 in Portugal after a 1-1 draw in Munich.

• United, meanwhile, have travelled away from home after a first-leg home draw on eight occasions in UEFA club competition – and ended up winning four of those ties. They have had mixed fortunes in the UEFA Champions League, winning 3-2 at Juventus after a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in the 1998/99 semi-finals, but losing on away goals to Bayer 04 Leverkusen at the same stage in 2001/02 after a 2-2 home draw was followed by a 1-1 result in Germany.

• The holders have lost their last four knockout ties in the UEFA Champions League when they have played the second leg away from home.

Statistics are there to be broken. Either way the Press sells. They heve never lost, they have never lost, it's what happens on the night that counts. On this night I believe United will draw on their European experience to full effect. What many forget is that United are STILL the defending champions and Porto NEEDS to do an even bigger job in the Dracula stadium. Liverpool was HUMILIATED at Arnfield, Real at Bernabeu so it CAN happen. And they've been beaten there before(even if not an by an EPL side) so what the heck.

In terms of quality, in terms of experience, United looks better. United now needs to display the hunger that got them to this stage and Porto will fall like a pack of cards. I'm not even worried . United will go through!!!
