Saraki didnt plan his SP ambition very well,he thought everything will just die down once he's the SP but he has forgotten that Baba doesnt forgive quickly and Tinubu wouldnt take a defeat very easily...Saraki goofed big time on his calculations,my simple advice, remain in APC,meet with the leadership with the presence of PMB and Tinubu especially, if you think Atiku and Tambuwal can safe you on this, you've miscalculated already..party supremacy is the most important thing here

These are sort of men/women our flawed and massively rigged elections throw to our faces as leaders....

....In a sane Clan, Mr Saraki should have resigned honorably but here in Nigeria...he is still shamelessly parading his dirty ass in our faces.

My question is: "Mr Saraki did you steal the monies? and why are you avoiding the courts?"

You Can’t Try Me In Abuja -tinubu 2011

By Ikechukwu Nnochiri

ABUJA— Embattled former Governor of Lagos State and leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday, declined to either mount the dock or enter his plea to the 3-count criminal charge preferred against him before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, sitting in Abuja.
The ex-governor who was charged by the federal government on allegation that he violated section 7 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, Cap C15 LFN, 2004, as amended, by allegedly operating10 foreign accounts whilst he was in office between 1999 and 2007, yesterday, insisted that “the CCT sitting in Abuja does not have the territorial jurisdiction”, to try him over the alleged offence.
Arguing through his lead counsel, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, Tinubu told the Justice Danladi Yakubu Umar-led 3-man panel that while he was a governor, “some forms for declaration of assets were brought to him from the Code of Conduct Bureau, at its office in Lagos. The said forms were filled, completed and deposed to at the High Court of Lagos Registry and same duly returned to the CCB in Lagos. ”
He maintained that he “did not have any personal dealing with the CCB in Abuja.”
Consequently, the ex-governor contended that since the Bureau has offices in all the states of the federation, he would neither mount the dock nor take plea in respect of the said 3-count charge, pending when the substantive suit against him is transferred to Lagos State for prosecution.Besides, in a preliminary objection he raised against his trial, the ex-governor, through his team of lawyers comprising over 15 Senior Advocates of Nigeria, said he “is being accused and/or charged before a Tribunal which is not known to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, (as amended).
According to him, “the mandatory conditions precedent for the referral of complaints by the CCB to the CCT and the subsequent exercise of jurisdiction by the said Tribunal, have not been complied with.
“The amended charge is an abuse of court/judicial process, as an earlier charge with No: CCT/NC/ABJ/02/07, dated 5th March, 2007, containing similar particulars like this present one, is still pending.
“The counts contained in the amended charge are vague, ambiguous, unspecific and nebulous. The charge does not link the applicant to the commission of any offence. The counts do not disclose any prima facie case against the applicant.”
Relying on the provisions of sections 36(6) (a) (b), 36(12) and paragraph 15 of the Fifth schedule of the 1999 constitution, section 3 and paragraph 1 of the Third schedule of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, Tinubu yesterday prayed the tribunal for an order quashing and/or striking out the 3-count charge dated September 19 but filed against him the next day.
He listed 10 grounds and attached four exhibits that should be considered by the panel in granting him the reliefs.
Meantime, the federal government vehemently opposed the application yesterday, insisting the accused person must face trial in Abuja.
The prosecuting counsel, Dr Alex Iziyon, SAN, who tendered two exhibits in support of a counter-affidavit he filed in opposition to the suit, said the CCT has the requisite jurisdiction to prosecute the former governor over the charges pending before the court.
According to FG, “the offices of the Code of Conduct Bureau established in the states of the federation are for administrative convenience and do not affect the tribunal’s jurisdiction.
“The accused person/ applicant in this present charge is not protected by the provision of section 308 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 199 as he is not occupying the office of Governor presently.
“The accused/applicant knows the case against him and knows how to prepare his defence as he has been aware of same since 2007 when the earlier charge was filed.
“He knows as a fact that this honourable tribunal is one of summary jurisdiction. The CCB invited the accused/ applicant severally regarding the complaint leading to this charge but the accused refused to appear and was evasive.
“The counts disclosed in the charge clearly disclose a prima facie case against the applicant, this application is frivolous and should be dismissed”, it added.
After listening to their submissions, Justice Umar before adjourning ruling on the issue till November 30, said the panel would consider the application on its merit.
“In accordance with the judicial oath we took, we will treat the matter justly, fairly and without fear or favour. As ministers in the temple of justice, we will do justice and justice will be seen to have been done in this matter”, he added.
Meanwhile, there was no space inside the court room yesterday as so many supporters of the ACN trooped out en-mass to show solidarity to the accused person.
Among those in court yesterday were three sitting governors of Lagos, Osun and Ekiti states, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, Rauf Aregbesola and Kayode Fayemi, respectively, as well as serving lawmakers under the ACN platform

That cabal is headed by Ogbeni Ojuyobo working with Aisha Buhari to persecute their political enemies and NOT to fight any corruption since they are very corrupt themselves.

Bringing Tambuwal and "party supremacy" together shows something is lacking with you. shocked
I do not know what it is but you may need to search yourself and find out.
Perhaps you have forgotten how Tambuwal became Speaker instead of his party, PDP's choice of Hon. Mulikat Akande through the Tinubu cabal using Gbajabiamila as the arrowhead.

The same Tinubu who sold his ACN presidential candidate for a bowl of porridge in 2011 to order his party agents and supporters in the south west to vote for Jonathan back then cannot preach "party supremacy" to anyone but those who make up the 200 million mumus in our country as he is Traitor & Betrayer personified.

No fewer than 50 senators yesterday met in Abuja concerning the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT’s) invitation to Senate President Bukola Saraki for trial over alleged improper declaration of assets between 2003 and 2011.
At the weekend, the CCT, presided over by Justice Danladi Umar, issued an order to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, and other security agencies to arrest the Senate President for failure to appear before the tribunal last Friday. They were asked to produce him on Monday to face the trial. There is a 13-count criminal charge raised against Saraki by the Federal Government over an alleged false declaration of assets Continued from Page 1

On his part, the Senate President rushed to the Court of Appeal in Abuja on that same day, seeking the stay of execution of the tribunal’s order.
Daily Trust on Sunday gathered that the senators who attended the emergency meeting held in a private office near the popular Next Supermarket, cut across party lines - the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties represented in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly. The meeting, which started at 11.00am ended at 3.00pm with some senators who were not in the country participating through telephone.
The Daily Trust on Sunday gathered that some senators who were on holidays in the US, UK and those who are performing the on-going Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia participated in the meeting through telephone.
The meeting, which was chaired by the Deputy Senate Leader, Bala Ibn Na’Allah, pledged to support the anti-graft war of President Buhari, but accused ‘a cabal’ in The Presidency of instigating the government institutions against Senate President Saraki.
Daily Trust on Sunday learnt that Senator Saraki was not part of the meeting, but participants resolved to use all necessary channels to correct the anomaly.
Speaking on the development, one of the senators who attended the meeting said they initially suspected President Buhari to be the brain behind the trials, but after exhaustive deliberations they had a second thought on the issue.
“Our colleagues were angry at the beginning of the meeting because they were initially suspecting that the President has hand in the trial of Saraki. But after heated debate, they understood that Buhari was not responsible for it.
“One of our colleagues present at the meeting suggested that the Senate should reconvene on Monday [tomorrow] in order to address the challenge. His suggestion, however, did not see the light of day as we resolved to use other channels to address the challenge.”
In a telephone interview, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah said they had unanimously resolved to work with Buhari to achieve his programmes and policies.
“We have resolved to use all available powers under the constitution to ensure that no cabal exists and run the government on behalf of Buhari and we have also resolved to deal decisively with the cabal,” he said.
Some of the senators who attended the meeting included Senator Samuel Anyanwu (PDP, Imo East), Senator Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi West), Senator Binta Garba Masi (APC, Adamawa North), and Senator Kabiru Gaya (APC, Kano South).
Others were Senator Rafiu Ibrahim (APC, Kwara South), Senator Hamma Misau (APC, Bauchi Central), and Senator Hope Uzodinma (PDP, Imo-West).
Meanwhile, a political group from Saraki’s home, Maja Elders Forum yesterday canvassed for the prompt intervention of President Buhari in the senate president’s ordeal.
The group, in a statement signed by its coordinator, Alhaji Kayode Yusuf, said that Saraki was being witchhunted following his emergence as the Senate President few months ago which should not continue in the interest of peace in the polity.
The group said, “we are taken aback by the recent developments in the nation’s political circle where Saraki seems to be the only politician that should be investigated by the anti-graft agencies in Nigeria. We are not opposed to anti-corruption crusades of President Buhari but what we don’t understand is, why should the searchlight be beamed only on our leader to the exclusion of others?
“We want Mr President to use his good offices to call the operators of these anti- graft bodies to order in the interest of peace. We should not bring down the shining light in Nigerian politics just because someone does not want to see his face. President Buhari should not keep mute on Saraki’s unjust persecution,” the group stated.
Efforts by the Daily Trust on Sunday to get the police to speak on the issue did not yield result as all phone calls and text messages by our correspondent to the Force Public Relations Officer, Mrs Olabisi Kolawole, were not answered.
The Court of Appeal will tomorrow hear the ex-parte motion brought by the embattled senate president concerning the order of the Code of Conduct Tribunal to have him arrested and brought for trial.

Dumb, corrupt senators not worthy of the name, Nigerian senators continue to be a disgrace to all. Rather than request Saraki to subject himself to the rule of law, they are spoiling for a fight with the executive because they possess the ultimate tool of blackmail - impeachment. A responsible senate will think more of a proper House cleaning.

Some might even begin to suggest the woes befalling Saraki is a sign of a lack of 'political manoeuvring' unlike in David Mark's Senate when Mark and his senators went berserk breaking every law.

Well there is a new Sheriff in town unlike the wimp who sat in Aso rock for 6yrs not knowing what to do.

Perhaps the time has come to address the Senate problem through a referendum. Do we actually need a house of senate when we have a House of reps. Afterall we didn't start with this corrupt version of American import.

I think Saraki deserves whatever he gets. I don't have any firm of sympathy for him. He is simply paying for his over-ambition. When he emerged SP, some people hailed him, calling him a smart politician. Now this is politics playing out. Whatever the source of his woes may be, he deserves everything he's getting.

Having someone who usurped his party's plans as SP in the first place is bad for our image as a democratic nation. Tambura might have escaped it, Dogara has probably escaped it too. However, let's bear in mind that Dogara reconciled with the powers that be in APC while Saraki has remained obstinate.

You can't be bigger than your party. This is politics, this is Nigeria. You f@#k up, you get f@#jed up real bad.

Wish him luck with his travails. All his supporters should just understand that this might just end his political ambition which he has not planned well. No matter how powerful you are, there are more powerful people.

We don't know who is responsible for his woes, however, I know he is probably only getting a feedback.

Now I am certain we have scoundrels for senators. Really? So instead of these men to think about how best we can fight corruption, they want the president to stop a legal process, because if involves their leader?
Shouldn't they embarrassed that they voted a questionable character to lead then in the chamber?

in the game of power, anything goes. the master planner is an invisible hand. the schemer who assumes formlessness is almost invincible
while the schemer who takes on a form gives his opponent something to attack. If tinubu is responsible for saraki's woes, then he is most likely to succeed. why? simply because he has silently kept himself from media attention while beaming media attention on saraki. Tinubu's TVC is was not setup to yield him profits it was setup as an instrument meant for tinubu to use at will to orchestrate the country's media into doing his bidding.

If saraki wants to survive this, he can make a peace deal with tinubu behind the scenes but publicly maintain his tough stance. If he fails to do this then he is sure doomed. why? because Tinubu will keep nibbling and gnawing saraki's reputation away bit by bit untill saraki's political appeal is reduced to naught.

Give or take, Saraki is finished because he has no powerful allies in the helm of affairs he is not even in the good books of Buhari. Even if he escapes this ordeal another one will surface within a month.

Advice to senate: Stop fixating on Saraki's problems try to carry out the duties you were elected to do. Else saraki's problem will preoccupy you throughout this 8th assembly and that will be detrimental to your political reputation.

I believe Buhari is behind what is going on to Saraki, though there might be others that are at the forefront (pawns) but Buhari is definitely behind what's going on.

He has kept mute on what is going on in the NASS same way he kept mute about Boko Haram when GEJ was in power.

He promised GEJ government to be ungovernable same way he promised anti graft campaign.

When Saraki is eventually impeached/resigns PMB will come forward and start the real anti corruption chase and promise to deal with all corrupt officials both past and present.

Saraki is just a sacrificial ram in this scenario quite unfortunate but someone had to be used.

Buhari is one dangerous man. His silence to issues bares a lot of questions.

When he's quiet he knows more
