*UNILORIN WEBSITE ISSUE: NO CAUSE FOR ALARM - COMSIT Director*

The management of University of Ilorin has assured the general public, particularly regular visitors to its website, www.unilorin.edu.ng that the current difficulties in accessing the website are temporary.

The Director, Center for Computer Services and Information Technology (COMSIT), Prof. M. I. Ahmed, in a statement made available to *_Unilorin Bulletin,_* pointed to major maintenance of the web resources coupled with migration of the webserver to a new hosting platform as reasons for the inability of visitors to access the website. He however, promised an improved, more user-friendly website in few days.

Prof. Ahmed said, "The University of Ilorin website www.unilorin.edu.ng has been inaccessible in the past few days due to the routine overhaul of its web resources and network infrastructure, which are on-going concurrently".

He added that "The University Data Center is in the process of upgrading and migration to a new network and power infrastructure. The website is concurrently undergoing maintenance and re- engineering using secured codes and modular object-oriented dynamic learning environment".

Prof. Ahmed, whose Center is charged with the core mandate of integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into teaching and learning environment, said that, "the idea is to use this time when students are on holiday to enhance the security features on our network and web resources to give it a mobile-friendly user interface with better look and feel to serve as an efficient gateway to the Unilorin web resources".

The COMSIT Director pointed out that " this major maintenance on the Unilorin web resources coupled with the on-going migration of its server to a new hosting platform is responsible for the temporary non-accessibility of the site on the global cyber space", adding that "the activities of COMSIT are aimed at increasing productivity and promoting sustainability through innovation, collaboration and application of state-of-the art technology in the tripartite mandate of teaching, learning and research".

The Professor of Veterinary Medicine said, "As a result of growing concern by visitors to our site, we temporarily deployed an index page from our test suite to provide links to our portals. The Unilorin idex page, which is a product of our server was found to be vulnerable to cyber-attack".
"As soon as this was noticed, the Unilorin website address (www.unilorin.edu. ng) was redirected to target our undergraduate portal where activities relating to 2016 admission were at its peak", he disclose, saying "It was as a result of the transient attach that we shut down the index page (Displaying "Forbidden". In essence, it was the test index page that was attacked and not our website".

The upgrading did not significantly hamper the activities of prospective applicants seeking admission into the institution because the portals were migrated earlier in anticipation of the admission exercise to kick start in earnest", he further explained.

The Director again disclosed that the portals are thus accessible for the admission exercise to proceed without much hitches, adding that "as a result of this arrangement, the numeric value of applicants who applied for this year did not differ from what we recorded in 2015".

Prof. Ahmed said, "The migration and upgrade of our IT infrastructure facilities are now accomplished to the tune of 90%. We hope to be fully operational in the next few days before the release of first batch of admission. The University of Ilorin management regrets any inconveniences experienced by visitors on our site during this period of upgrade."

I have a friend that used 2-sittings O-level result but he used awaiting result for one of them (Neco 2016). Is it necessary to upload d awaiting result since it is now out?

He can no longer register. He should quickly search for other schools that do not necessitate you choosing them are first choice. Most northern university do so.

That 2nd batch of last year was due to low quota allocated to them by NUC. And then, Jamb already set a deadline for all institution to complete there admission, which points only to one thing: that this year admission won't exceed November.
