The fourth commandment enjoys all christian to keep the Seventh-Day Sabbath holy. Yet most do not. Ether because they are ignorant of its significance or deliberately ignore its importance. Today's study explains the meaning of the commandment.
I will do it in question and answer method

1a) When was the Sabbath made: Gen 2:1-3 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day, God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which god created and made.

1b) Who made the Sabbath: John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

2a) Whom did Jesus thus make the Sabbath for? Mark 2:27 And he said unto them, the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath.
This text proves that Adam kept the Sabbath, since the Sabbath was made for man. Since Adam kept the Sabbath, the belief that the Sabbath was for the Jews is wrong because the father of the Jews, Abraham came to the world more than two thousand years after the Sabbath was given to man.
Another note worthy point is that the Sabbath was made before man sinned. the sanctuary system came into existence after sin, to show man how Christ would solve the problem of sin. Hence the sanctuary system and all its ordinance were shadows of Christ Jesus. But since the seventh day Sabbath was made before sin, it is not a shadow but a reality in itself. if man had not sinned, he would still have needed to keep the Sabbath holy.

2b) Even though the Sabbath was made for man, who owns the day? Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God; In it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.
Isa 58:13 If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day a and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shalt honor him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine pleasure, nor speaking thine own words.
It is holy because it is exclusively set apart for God.

3) Why did God make the Sabbath for man? Exo 20:8-11 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work. But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God; In it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them is, and rested the seventh day; wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
God has designed that man should express his belief that God is the creator through keeping the Sabbath holy. The Sabbath is therefore a COVENANT between God and man that God is the creator and that man is absolutely dependent on God for his existence.

4) What additional reason did God later add for man to keep the Sabbath holy? Deut 5:15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm; therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the Sabbath day.
From this point onward, God wanted his people to remember as they kept the Sabbath holy, that he was the savior who liberated them from slavery.
As the ancient Israel was liberated from Egyptian slavery, so is modern Israel was liberated from the slavery of sin. Thus the seventh day Sabbath is a symbol of the covenant between God and any Israel (whether ancient or modern) that God is the Creator and Savior that liberates.

5) Why did God rest on the Seventh day after creating the world in six days? Gen 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Gen 2: 1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished and all the host of them.
The reason why God rested was not not because he was tired (he never gets tired) but because his work of creation was perfect and finished- there was nothing else for him to do. He stopped working in order to have fellowship with Adam and Eve.
