salterswan:
The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has called on security agencies to beam a searchlight on some militant groups in the Niger Delta region following the recent spate of bomb attacks believed to have been perpetuated by Boko haram insurgents in Abuja.

The President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba stated this while adding that the ongoing investigation should not be narrowed down to the Islamic insurgents, Boko haram.

He said the latest attacks were particularly dangerous as they were carried out at night and in locations where late purchases were made.

Several bomb blasts on Friday night ripped through Nyanya and Kuje, a town in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja including one target hit twice before by Boko haram, after separate strikes in the N/East that killed at least 21.

The blasts left scores dead and severely injured with several reactions pouring in ever since.

In reaction, NLC alleged that some groups in the oil-rich region had planned to resume violent attacks against Nigerians and the Nigerian State.

The NLC President said, “One of the locations, Kuje is on the route to our major international airport. The attacks may have been a devious façade to rubbish the victories of our national army and other security agencies in the battle to rid our country of terrorism and all its residues before the global community.

“They want the world to believe our country is not safe.

“For us at the Nigeria Labour Congress, we believe these latest attacks should not weaken the morale of the forces involved in the battle against terrorism in our country, rather it should reinvigorate their fighting spirits and be seen by government as a challenge to arm our forces with more sophisticated and superior weapons both for intelligence gathering and combat.

“The freedom of those who sponsor deadly violence put the entire country on timed bombs that can explode at will. No matter how highly placed, whoever has been indicted should immediately be apprehended and reinvestigated now.”

Amnesty International, AI, in a recent report, stated that over 1,600 persons have been killed by insurgents since January. See more: http://www.post-nigeria.com/shock-abuja-blasts-niger-delta-militants-responsible-nlc/

The Niger-Delta militants are not that Barbaric. Instead a minor settlement like Kuje, they would have gone directly to the Airport itself.

No longer blaming the Igbo people, its now Niger Delta militants, yet another proof the federal govt are shielding those behind the blast.

This dude must be very silly to make such an insinuation... Niger-delta militants have never operate in this way; i.e. bombing soft civilian populated targets.

This is a very irresponsible statement by the NLC boss. I think he should leave the military and other security agencies to do their job instead of talking like a fool and overheating the polity.
