"Prior to the mid-1960s India relied on imports and food aid to meet domestic requirements. However, two years of severe drought in 1965 and 1966 convinced India to reform its agricultural policy"
The oil drought is here for the foreseeable future. What shall we do?

"India exported $39 billion worth of agricultural products in 2013"
This statement should have been Obasanjo's legacy to Nigeria. Instead, he has wasted multiple opportunities...

But this isn't about him; it's about you and I and what future we choose to make for ourselves and our children.
So leave the politicians and their politics. Our bodies and minds are young, strong and versatile.
Ideas- and their proper implementation- are what will change Nigeria, not a 'strong man'.

Dive in and discuss agric in Nigeria-
The problems, the solutions, the creative, radical thoughts

A dream, and not even a good one at that!

SirWere:
A dream, and not even a good one at that!

Why do you think it's a 'not good' dream?
Is it the land mass?
The farming technology?
Or does Nigeria lack the manpower?
Let me ask the question from a different angle:

How can our government create jobs for MILLIONS of youths in the next 12 months without spending half of our national budget on capital projects?
-without oil money?
-without returned loot?
-with a falling currency?
-without proper infrastructure?
-with corruption still rife in every MDA?
-with a GIGANTIC debt burden that we're yet to fully understand?

You say it's a bad dream, I say it's the only sure path to our nation's freedom.
Unless you want GMB to keep borrowing..?

Have you considered the fact that returning to Agriculture might not be as rosy as you put it Why, who would want to leave the city and go to some back-water village to drudge and suffer?

This is the 21st century.
Our backward thinking must 'change'!
Mechanised farming is big business.
Even India's rural farmers are raking it in! They have higher yields per plot, better crops, disease resistance, proper storage and access to international markets.
This is the vision we should have, rather than still thinking of 'rural farmers' and drudgery.
Do you think it's government and 'big business' that make up the $39 BILLIION EXPORTS in a single year?!
