So, I’ve been on Bolt for about 4 weeks now, but Uber only recently activated me. So yesterday was my 2nd full day using both simultaneously. Kindly permit me share my initial observations. Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. 1 Uber riders are a class ahead of Bolt riders in terms of refinement, and they less likely to give you issues. Uber costs are generally like N200 more than Bolt, so every Tom, Dick and Harry patronizes Bolt, while only those well enough financially stick with Uber. 2 Uber trips are overwhelmingly card trips. Because of same reason in 1, thus giving you income assurance. While on Bolt the opposite occurs with cash trips, and you have to contend with change wahala and fake transfer risks. 3 When driving at night and considering 10pm curfew and security risks, Uber has the advantage in that their riders are very unlikely to be people of shady characters, thus giving you more peace of mind. While the advantage of Bolt is that you can see riders’ destination when requests come in, so you are better able to predict your movement by declining trips which take you far away from your comfort zone. 4 Bolt commission per trip is 20%, while Uber is 25%. But when I did the maths, to compare my first day earnings (Total Net earnings/Total Kilometers covered) I found that I was making N69.63 for every kilometer on Bolt, and N51.61 for every kilometer on Uber. But for yesterday’s work I made N59.29 for every kilometer on Bolt, while I got N 60.00 for every kilometer on Uber. This takes no cognizance of Total time spent however. So, the jury is still out on this. 5 As regards payment for wasted effort. On Uber you are entitled to cancellation fee, if you wait over 8 minutes after arriving pickup point without rider showing up. While on Bolt you get nothing when rider cancels after endless waiting upon arrival. 6 In terms of data, statistics and functionality, the Uber app is by far superior to the Bolt app. Even in terms of operational standards, Uber places more value on quality, and demands more effort from the point of registration all the way to performance standards as a driver. 7 Previously using Bolt alone in this partial lockdown pandemic, I sometimes had dry periods of up to an hour between orders. While using both Uber and Bolt simultaneously yesterday, my wait time for orders never exceeded 15 minutes. Thus, using both apps together is a no brainer if you want to maximize your productivity. 31 Likes 3 Shares |

Bigleaf1006:Business strategy? Really! IMO I think it’s the wrong business strategy to employ for someone who needs to pass information in a very limited time, viewers/subscribers need to look forward to your videos, it must be concise and straight to the point. 4 Likes |

Felicity0001: Bros reading this comment, makes Me feel emotional. I used to be one of the best drivers that delivers on time (I delivers on mondays) This is week 7 that’s I haven’t make any delivery for my partner simply because the work isn’t worth it anymore. Am on HP, have paid total of 1.2 out of 3.2 (03 Corolla) up till this moment I’m feeling bad because I couldn’t meet up. I’m owning my mechanic almost 13k, passenger hub is making hell noise currently, crank shaft and engine needs ringing raising the funds already. Last I did in a week is just 27k. If I deduct fuel and other stuff commission and all I’ll be left with zero. I pity “we” drivers repairing our cars by ourselves is not an easy thing I swear. You’ve got to accept every trips and you can’t be so selective with trips because there’s competition and you might not get another trip in 3hours. I’ can’t make an account of how much have borrowed from my wife’s salary to fix one or two thing from the car. Well life is all about win and loses. Have been able to submit my cv’s which that’s not sure but anything I get there, I’ll manage. Why am I lamenting? I want advice from my brothers out here. My decision is to drop this car make I find something else doing before my long lasting relationship with my partner will become something Very bad. Because I don’t think I can Deliver over 30k+ he requires for remittance anytime sooner. Oruko rere sanju Wura looo I’ve tried my best after the easing of lockdown, have paid lastma, try cabu, did Uber/inDriver but yet I can’t gross 30k. Please brothers I need mature advice Thanks 3 Likes |

If I may ask, you people that take up cars on hire purchase.... What exactly are your plans? Any driver on Uber taking up a car for hire purchase for anything above 2 million is simply a morron. Even as far back as 2017 when I drove for people, the least money I negotiated with my partner was 25k for rentals and still on still, all the repairs were on them. The only good thing I did for them was that I delivered weekly with no stories. And God so kind, I got good partners. They always repaired their car once there is an issue. Another good thing I did was that I made sure the cars are always neat and does not suffer. I select trips a lot and this made it so that I don't suffer the car and always incur debts for servicing. Most times, it takes up to 2 months before any minor parts are bought not to talk of major parts. In 2020 when the business is sarurated, fares are crazily low, CORONA VIRUS is shutting down economies, roads are more worse, traffic is more hellish, Law enforcement agents are more hungry and blood thirsty, how does any right thinking human being take a car for more than 20k? This debate has been going on here but I decided not to have an input so as not to hurt people. But I guess its time I air my opinion. How does a normal thinking person take up a car for hire purchase for 3.2 million? Can you imagine? Even some go as high as 4 million. You said you already delivered 1.2 million. That means you started driving the car either 2018 or 2019. The least price I know an 03 corolla sold betwen 2018-2019 was around 1.2 million to 1.4 million. Why cant the owner add another 1.2 million on top and give it to you maximum of 2.4 million? Have you ever asked yourself what the situation of the car will be after years of driving that car to complete 3.2 million? What then will be your gain then? A carcass? Atimes lets be reasoning well oo. Don't allow hunger or idleness make you sign up to eternal slavery. If I were you, I will simply drop that car and face another hustle. Or worse come to worse, look for a rental. At least, you will have something doing before a bigger hustle comes your way. If you still continue to suffer yourself and the car, I raise nyansh for you bro. Nothing may help you again. 18 Likes

Ghost1994: I really don't understand this bro. How can you say you don't gross 30k in a week. I net twice that these days and I do only Uber. I believe things have improved since the beginning of this month, even airport trips are back. I don't see any reason why you can't gross above 60k per week. 2 Likes |
