Your argument is misguided. Age is not the problem. The problem is the Nigerian mentality. It is a phucked up mentality. The fact that you think a man cannot rule at that age proves it. Winston churchhill, one of the greatest leaders the world had ever seen was voted a second time at the age of 77 and he was also a military personel. What do you have to say about that? Age is not Buhari's problem; his problem is he is a nigerian.

WHERE DID WE GO WRONG?
WAKE UP NIGERIAN YOUTHS
Awolowo was (37), Akintola (36), Ahmadu Bello (36) Balewa (34) and Okotie-Eboh (27), Enahoro (27) led the struggle for independence after the death of Macaulay. Only Zik was 42 at the time.

In 1966, the first coup was led by: Kaduna Nzeogwu (29) and countered by Murtala Mohammed (28), Theophilus Danjuma (28), Babangida (25), Nanven Garba (23), Sani Abacha (23), Shehu Musa Yaradua (23), and brought into power Gowon (32), Ojukwu (33), Obasanjo (29), Buhari (24).
Most of the military administrators who governed the states under the successive military regimes, most of whom are governors now, were under 30 years.
The brief democratic dispensation which interjected the military interregnums also saw the House of Representativesin particular populated by majority of members under 30 years as well as some senators.
Under 30s were also not in short supply with appointments, we have examples of MT Mbu who became foreign affairs minister at 23 and Pat Utomi who became a presidential adviser at 27 and so on and so forth.
NOW:
Why is it that this age bracket is today still sleeping in 3 seater chairs in their parents’ homes?
Why is it that this age bracket is today still collecting pocket money from their parents?
Why is it that this age bracket is today still writing JAMB?
Why is it that this age bracket is today still sagging their trousers?
Why is it that this age bracket is today still searching for jobs, not yet married?
Why is it that this age bracket is today no longer qualified to even be leaders of youth wings of political parties?
Why is it that this age bracket is today so docile?
Why is it that this age bracket is today still incapable of feeding itself?
Why is it that this age bracket is today barred by law from even aspiring to certain political offices?
Why is it that this age bracket is today incapacitated, unwilling, unable and incapable of asking questions?
GOD BLESS NIGERIA!

I've read some of these comments. I've been blacklisted and frustrated out of twitter where all the top people in Nigeria who once related or followed me have blocked or run away from me.

Ok now, did you hear that 60 or 70 percent of Nigerian population are under 25 years old? So who voted the old people into office if the youth are desperate to govern?

Nigeria is a joke. I absolutely agree with those who call this place a zoo or jungle. The problem of Nigeria, Africa, black man is long and glaring and yet they can't see it: their VALUES. The thing we pursue in life and our idea of how life should be lived is barbaric, undeveloped, uninformed, vain - where can I end. Even the fact that they want to black me out rather than debate my points is the greatest evidence of this.
Don't forget Gowon was not yet even 32 when he became Supreme Commander of Nigeria, with powers of all those 469 legislators and the President combined. Guess what: he was there by force and not by whether we as a society wanted him there or not. It's not about young or old - it's about what your SOCIETY thinks is right/wrong

Age is not the issue for me but the brain inside the head. Old or Young the main thing is what you got to offer. For Buhari , the brain inside the head is not good enough for today's Nigeria. We need men with unusual approach to governance and vision. Buhari don't belong to that class and don't expect much from him.
instead of speaking grammar, bring the men of unusual approach now

What was his father's contributions to his success?
Do you know that he won from an opposition party and wasn't even a favourite prior to the polls.
But he succeeded in communicating his ideas and was voted in by the masses.
The case is Nigeria is where we complain our leaders have failed us and still vote the same set of people into power.
It is only a fool that does the same thing over and over again and expect a different result.
Our fathers has failed us woefuly, we should try out another section of our society in leadership.

You are right that our leaders have failed us. But they have not failed their masters ( the ex-colonial powers) who groomed and put them in place as youngsters. But the problem with today's youth is that their seniors failed to groom them as proper leaders of a progressive society. That is why you have seen a steady and continous degradation in educational standards from high standards at independence to the mockery it is now. Today's youth are simple victims of harsh economic and social circumstances that have left them intellectually stunted. Go to political gatherings: what calls themselves youth are late 30s, 40s and 50s. Because in todays nigerian economy 20s can hardly fend for themselves not to talk of leadership.

No. The present youthful generation cant lead now. They still need time to mature. Or perhaps the baton will bypass them to their children, if they would undertake to orient that generation.

I wonder what you mean by "them not failed the colonial powers" but they remain failures and can never groom successful youths.
I disagree with you on our youths not being ready, they are just not given the chance needed

When all these old cargoes are campaigning in the sun & in the rain where are the youth? The few youths that find themselves at the corridors of power fumbled and the era of appointing someone from Harvard is over, if you wanna lead you have to join a political party and be active, not just sit down at the comfort of your home criticising & expect to be appointed for a position, there are some ppl that sweat, risk their lives & property for PMB to be president, Garba Sheu & Adeshina are reaping the fruit of their labour likewise Lai Muhammad.

The sad truth is majority of Nigerian youths have been extremely corrupted to the extent that electing them into top government position is suicide for the country. With the way things are, I dare to say that the youths will do worse if they get elected into government positions. If you doubt me, look at the level of rot in NANS, National Association of Nigerian Students, sample the opinion of "enligtened" youths on Nairaland. You will fear for the future of this country. Forget it. The only solution is revolution, complete and total annihilation of the rotten class of politicians.

Spot on!

Futhermore, you can't compare nig 2 oda countries,we are still dealing with the aftermath of amalgamation
Finally, there's is no nationalist spirit in us that is why we continue to fail democratically.
