Engage the cab operator in the economic situation in the country and you will enjoy your ride but don't take baba ashawo to traffic prone zones

I made out in a cab once. All the way from Unilag to VI. the cab guy didn't make a sound and when we got to our destination, my date tipped him heavily and even collected his number. I think he became his regular customer after that lol...When girls were young and in love.
Chai!!!

I remember my wife asking a mainland taxi driver why he was moving too slow when we'd almost missed our flight out of Lagos last year. The conversation that ensued went like

Mainland Driver: In very clean english "Look at my face well...do I look like a small child?"
"Is that how to talk to an elderly person?"

In my mind I was like "we're telling you you are slow, you are asking us if you are a child"

At this point my Akwa Ibom wife was already red hot with anger. She continued

My Wife: "If I am paying you to get me to the airport on time so I don't miss my flight and you are slow, I don't care how old you are!"
She quickly replied with a stronger tone and cleaner english
You know that time when you want to use perfect english to make the other person feel bad.

Mainland Driver: "It is like they didn't teach you manners where you came from"

I had to cut in at this point with a firmer voice.
Me: "Baba iyen lan ba yin so ni"(Baba is that what we are talking about here)
I continued
"Ani ke rin le, e n so fun wa pe e ti dagba"(We are telling you to hurry up, you are telling us you are old)
"Se oro ni yen?"(Does that make sense?)

He mumbled some words in anger and kept quiet. It seemed he had put everything behind him. Then the vehicle became slow and slower...and slower still, then it stopped.
It was like 40 minutes to the end of check in at the airport. With traffic and everything, we were 50 minutes away from the airport.

Then I started begging my wife not to say a word again...

Somehow, we made the flight, thanks to a God-sent mainland taxi driver. He looked even more rugged than the first but he was younger and lot more understanding. He drove for every dime he was worth

As I handed him the fare, he quickly responded "Oga I no get change o!"

It must have been up to 500 naira, can't remember, It could even have been 2000naira. I didn't care, it was insignificant compared to the joy of arriving on time.

"Guy keep the change". We raced to the counter
