He doesn't want to make it look like kachikwu is his favorite in that area;I would say he just said it that way to kind of shut people up. Kachikwu would be doing all the job,so more or less he's the petroleum minister. 2 Likes |

It should be seen as reprieve because the petroleum industry requires an affirmative action. Ride on Presido- the days of turning the petroleum ministry as an avenue for come and chop and go are over. 2 Likes |

Y'all should ask yourselves one question, if it was constitutionally wrong do you think with a SAN as VP and other lawyers, the president would carry out an action without checking the constitutional implications? The President of Nigeria is the executive officer of the state and by law is in charge of every ministry. Deciding to appoint a Minister of State for a ministry who will work in line with him is within his constitutional powers. |

a very backward nation where a man who is numerically and technologically impaired becomes the minister of petroleum...nigeria and nigerians need a brain check... we all know what we go through to be employed with the smallest oil and gas company and what it takes to grow to becoming a veteran in the oil field,...here we have an old man who might not even know what an FPSO is becoming the minister of petroleum... 2 Likes 1 Share |

His supporters have no problems with anything he does...but I think he shouldn't have gone that far. Maybe he should have appointed a Minister/Special Assistant on Petroleum. |

Does the president have the constitutional rights to scrap or merge ministries? If the answer to the above question is YES, then I would want to believe the president can also decide not to appoint a petroleum minister. Now regarding the motive behind this question, I would imagine there are only 3 sets of people who would be bothered with the decision of the president not to appoint a petroleum minister: 1. People who directly or indirectly think they or their folks deserve to be appointed to this position. 2. People with shallow minds who see every appointment ONLY as an avenue to amass wealth; these people are furious that 'PMB is chopping president money and now he also wants to greedily chop petroleum minister's money.' 3. People who just hate PMB and whatever he stands for and who believe they owe it as a duty to themselves to oppose any and everything PMB does. Besides the people falling into the categories above, I see absolutely no reason why anyone should be bothered if PMB thinks it is best for him to have no petroleum minister. |
