Hillary Clinton's Potential Female Vice President? by Nobody: 10:03pm On Nov 12, 2015 |
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has neither embraced the idea of a female running mate nor ruled it out completely. When asked by “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie if she would consider a female running mate, Clinton responded, “I would consider the qualified people of whom we have a large number in the democratic party because the most important choice is if something happens to the president, do you have full confidence that that person will step right in and do a great job for the country?” She added, “That’s the most important thing to me and it doesn’t matter who that person is if that’s what I believe about him or her.” The New York Times posed the idea of a two woman presidential ticket in March 2014, when potential VP picks for Clinton included: Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, and New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan. New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand would not qualify to be Clinton’s running mate as the Constitution prohibits the president and vice president to be being from the same state. As far as Gillibrand is concerned, however, The Times point out that the Constitution’s inhabitant clause of the Twelfth Amendment disqualifies the electors from a particular state from voting for both offices. The measure, though, does not “explicitly prohibit the vice-presidential candidate from being from the same state as the president.” If Clinton were to run with another woman it would not be the first time two women ran on the same ticket. The Green Party ran two women on a presidential ticket in 2012 — Jill Stein and Cheri Honkala. The possibility seems unlikely for Clinton to do so. One of Clinton’s biggest advocates called it an unwise idea. “It’s certainly possible to have two women,” California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, told The Times. She added, “I am not sure it’s wise. You want a ticket that represents men and women.” http://dailycaller.com/2015/10/06/clinton-non-committal-to-idea-of-female-running-mate-video/#ixzz3rJUGN9Vg |

I don't think the constitution bars Clinton from picking Senator Gillibrand. Hillary was born in Illinois, while Gillibrand was born in New York. 1 Like |

I laugh in German, why would a President be a female and still choose a female VP in a country like USA, despite the fact that she has the upper hand and both the press and the media house are with her with the rich capitalist backing her, am sure for the sake of neccesity it will be a male. 1 Like |

whitecloth:Indeed. There was a political commentator that branded any attempt by Secretary Clinton to pick a woman running-mate as "political overreach". But I don't think the electorate will care too much about that. |

kingsman66:Apparently, the polls seem to indicate that, we, Americans will be comfortable with a 1st female president. I've not yet made up my mind on who to 'vote' for in the general election. |

If Secretary Clinton is elected President on November 8 next year, I would expect either Cheryl Mills or Huma Abedin to be her White House Chief of Staff. Both women have been her long-time political associates. Cheryl Mills was the attorney that represented Bill Clinton in his impeachment trial at the US Senate. Abedin has been a loyal personal assistant to Hillary. 1 Like |

CFCman:She can't that's just it, what will she call her reason for doing that, don't let us forget that her capitalist/ Democratic sponsor will surely have the choice of choosing for her a befitting one who am sure will be a male. |
Re: Hillary Clinton's Potential Female Vice President? by Nobody: 11:52pm On Nov 12, 2015 |
^^ The key people that will help her choose a running mate would be Bill, her campaign manager, and Huma Abedin. |

Who's ready for another Clinton in the WH? I AM! C'mon Hillary, start to lay out your vision for this great nation tonight. Start to marshal your plans to help the middle class and the downtrodden. Somebody gotta do it! There's simply no future with their brand. Donald or Ben? Give me a break! Not even Jeb. Tell Americans tonight how you're going to up the ante from the sterling performances of Bill and Barry years. Yes, Hillary, go out on the offensive tonight for the American people. Do not be deterred by that Email brouhaha. Who cares about it?That's NOT going to help me with my student loans. Who's still talking about their Benghazi investigation b/s? That's NOT going to put more food on the table for my kids. Against who? Bernie who? Who needs a socialist president in 21st century America? 1 Like |

CFCman: sir, advocacy no matter how good it sounds cannot help Bernie overcome electability hurdle. Mere mention of socialism is anathema to American public particularly the Independents. Easy ride for another unelectable on the other side, Donald, is to give Democratic ticket to Bernie just as GOP would be helping Hillary if they go for Donald. I'm not sure if you will choose Donald over Hillary. 2 Likes |

yahrant140:Completely agree. Despite Hillary's high "untrustworthy" rating, more than 8 in 10 Democrats believe she will be more electable than Bernie. |
