depressedsoul:

I was born and bred in Lagos Nigeria. i am over 30 but swimming in poverty. i attended a university in Ogun state but i dropped out due to the loss of my mother who happened to be my sponsor back then. My father died before i was 4years old so i had no one to fall back on. I am the only child and life has been so cruel to me. I have no job at hand. My fathers family has taken possession of his property at Agege Lagos because they insist my mother had me for another man due to stories i'm hearing for the first time since my parent's demise. The story of my life is so wide, bitter and depressing. The moral of my epistle is that i need a casual job to survive. I am contemplating suicide at the moment and i almost drank sniper insecticide today. This is my last attempt at survival before i do the needful on my existence. Nairalanders please help me find any legal job be it unskilled labour. I have tried and tried but to no avail. Pardon me for been incoherent. I am a depressed soul waiting to see if my life can have a second chance.

This is not fraud nor scam. if you really want to know how real my story is kindly send me a private message.

Why do Nigerian doctors get in the news for all the bad reasons.

Heartbreaking stuff. That one is now ranking Nigerian docs with south african nurses.

God help us

Not Nigerian Doctors but the fake doctors all over even here in Nigeria they are practicing their trade hence the surge in having more women who now go through cesarean operation of which many has died as a result of quacks in the system.

Nurses we have now in all the private hospitals were been trained in-house and issued certificates to practice as a result, you find people dying anyhow in most private hospitals. Also, you get some quacks in government hospitals in this country. Go to rural areas, most hospitals you find these areas are been managed by fake doctors.

Some of them that did nursing are now answering doctors and carrying out the full practices that medical doctors handle. You see a nurse claiming to be a medical doctor and carrying an operation in his hospital.

A Nigerian man, Aberie Nwafor has been arrested in South Africa for using fake qualifications to practise as a “doctor” in a government hospital for years.

Nwafor was said to have arrived in South Africa 15 years ago and was arrested Nov. 6 for using fake qualifications to find a job as a doctor at a Limpopo government hospital.

Nwafor's wife, Amara was also arrested and he was found in possession of 14 fake passports.

Last Monday, he appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate Court on charges of fraud, corruption and violation of South African immigration laws.

Reacting to Nwafor's court appearance, Dr Sizeka Maweya of the South African Medical Association (Sama) warned the problem was widespread.

Maweya said: “The Health Professional council is failing us, now we check those foreign doctors from countries such as Nigeria personally, but the problem is that we don’t have capacity, but now SAMA (South African Medical Association) has said ‘let us be the ones who vet them, because we understand the trade’.”

Maweya said Sama had in the past helped the health department to remove two Nigerian “doctors” suspected of using fake qualifications from the Musina hospital and in Waterberg, also in Limpopo.

Limpopo Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba put the blame on Health Professional Council officials for failing to properly vet these “doctors”.

[s]“Most of these foreign doctors know nothing, even some nurses are better than this foreign doctors,” Maweya claimed.[/s]

There are more than 40,000 nigerian doctors working in u.k, u.s, australia, new zealand, middle east, europe, russia and that xenophobic sh*thole called south africa. Most of them are excellent doctors. obviously there will be a few bad eggs.
BUT overall, Nigerian doctors have proved themselves over and over again.

Everybody now claims to be a doctor- babalawo, lab scientist, physiotherapist, physiologist, anatomist, biochemists, market woman, nurse, janitor etc
Dem go just open one pharmacy, PRONTO! dem don turn doctor dey spoil people name.
If it's that easy to become a doctor, go and do 7 years + x number of years in medical school

You can't blame Nigerain doctors just because the MORONIC south africans can't distinguish between a native doctor and a medical doctor.
Even when given 15 years to check the documents. undecided
The fact is south africans are a lazy bunch of morons angry

You have said it all.We have fine qualified Nigerian doctors practicing all over the world. The quacks are there too but must be fished out.South Africans should reconfirm any professional papers presented by someone that wants to take any form of job relating to health matters.

He wasn't a doctor so don't equate him with our doctors , truly Nigerian doctors are one of the best in the continent. He may have been one of the paramedicals ( Anatomist , physiotherapist , science lab technician or nutrionist ) and felt he could get away with impersonation.

dont be too fast to conclude that this story is true, especially since we are dealing with a very racist and extremely Nigerians-hating country like south africa.
Have u considered that this doctor might be genuine but is being persecuted because he is a foreigner in a plume Job or he must have fallen out of favor with whoever is in power over there.
U know how much black south africans hate nigerians. It is not therefore far fetched to suggest that the charges might have been trumped up.

NB: This is just a possibility. the lesson is that we should always examine issues from several perspectives.[/quote
The criminal justice system in this country works like a well-oiled machine and without fear or favour. We are not perfect but we cannot be counted among the countries where there is no rule of law. If the man is innocent, let him ask his country's embassy to intervene or get himself a lawyer. Stop poisoning the minds of Nigerians. We don't hate Nigerians. We hate the horrible things that some of them do in this country. If we hated them, we would not fall in love with them, appreciate their music and movies, worship God with them, go to school with them, give them scholarship, allow them to compete with us for jobs, offer free medical care to those who can't afford, etc. Stop serving the interests of backward fiorces which cause conflict between Africans and thrive when Africans are at each other's throats. Lastly, stop defending the indefencible.

This is a big lie.

South Africans will do anything to rubbish Nigerians.

I am privileged to say Nigeria parade the finest doctors in South Africa.

I am following up the case at Polokwane in Limpopo tomorrow.

I can assure all the readers that Dr Anthony Nwafor is not fake.He is a family Physician in South Africa. They may other issues against him,but he is not a bogus doctor.
