Like Local Govt chairmen, the Vice Chancellors of our Universities have become very irresponsible and a law unto themselves only.

The Student Union itself have "sold out" and have therefore lost the support/backing of the student they purport to represent and likewise the respect they should get, from the authorities ... who now bribe and bank-roll them.

As it is, unless the Fed Govt intervenes, the students are on their own.

Nigeria's education has been in steady decay since "evil" Ibrahim Babangida bastardised it

When I say the Government should make Universities Autonomous and free to set their fees and rates and the Government should provide a merit based system of scholarship for students to access based on their grades, people start to para.


UNIVERSITIES are broke.. That's why Labs are empty. Broken down equipment's litter the Campuses. Buildings are looking older and worn out because they cant even afford to repaint them every 3 years.

FREE EDUCATION and SUBSIDIZING TUITION is what killed our tertiary institutions. The facilities in these Universities all need maintaining and its not cheap.

Imagine our Universities were autonomous, their standards would increase as their standards and ranking is what would attract prospective students. Students who are dull from Rich homes would have to pay their tuition cash. Students who are bright from poor homes get to go school on Government Scholarships. Students who are dull from Poor Homes would have to put in more work to keep their grades up or drop out and pursue another line of education. The UNIVERSITIES will now start attracting foreign Students like the UNIVERSITIES in Ghana are doing. In the end, everybody wins.

But this nonsense that we are currently running is just impractical.

In the days of vibrant unionism, this would have been the concern of the local branch as well as the national body of NANS.
Unfortunately, while the local branch is busy spending millions making phone calls, the national body that is totally fragmented is busy struggling for crumbs from the table of politicians.

is because of all this our universities are not ranked among the best universities in the world........our student go to other countries and they do well but when come to naija dey perform badly because no conducive environment for learning......

That public relation officer just shot himself. He did not address the reason why 4 students are allocated in a room and why squatters are prevalent. He failed to adress accomodation issue

They renovated some buidings at Awo Hall,Moremi,Sport Hall and Etf sometimes in the year 2009 or 2010. Everything was spoiled by the students in less than two semester.

Some students use public properties like coops.

The problem of that school is not really the hostels but overcrowding and the manners of those living in them.

How many of this girls actually stay in their hostels? The student union government is there to protest if you are talking about building more hostel on behalf of the student not you man,afterall the hostel wasnt built like dis,miss mangement is the course.
