Jesus sent His followers to go and meet people in their respective homes. The reasons are best known to the young man from Nazareth but we can use our God's given brains to discern why. Perhaps because many can't afford to go out to places of worship or they're fed-up with the on going hypocrisy in religion or they already have their respective religions. Which ever way Jesus sent them out to go and meet people at home, but He said something that should strike the mind of all who wish to be saved, He said this arrangement is for a witness to all the nations before God's judgment comes. Matthew 24:14 Meaning it's just a way God is about to justify HIMSELF before doing something! So whoever noticed preachers and hide his face already know why they're coming therefore God is not to blame when HE comes to destroy those who failed to live up to HIS standards after all they had the opportunity to know it but ran away "hiding"!

Yes of course Jesus and Paul preached from house to house(Act 20:20) that's why a prophecy regarding Him said His voice will not be hard in the streets because He will like to give you the opportunity to ask thought provoking questions just as you're doing now, if He's just shouting along the road no faithful person will ask him any questions publicly except those who want to discourage people from accepting Him(Pharisees) Moreover he told His followers to preach like He does "going from house to house" that's why He said "if you enter a house" Matthew 10:12 Of course if the house is of someone they're familiar with nobody there will reject them, surely Jesus was directing them to go and preach to strangers at home!

Jesus' preaching is ONLY from house to house but what often bring crowds is the curing of all sorts of ailments,as many people will rush to bring their sick relatives for healing and whenever the crowd are too much He'll sit them down somewhere and start teaching them publicly. His main target is individuals who have special interest in knowing how pure worship should be not the doubleminded and faithless crowd who are only interested is solving their immediate problems! John 6:66-68. Jesus first declared Himself as Christ to a promiscuous Samaritan woman fetching water! Why? Because she's not interested in solving all her problems instantly rather she believes in the promised Messiah whom God's Prophet Moses prophesied that's coming to solve all mankind's problems! John 4:7-42 please notice her special interest as revealed in her question in verse 20 initially she taught this handsome young Jew is another prospective womanizer until she discovered He is a prophet but Jesus' interest in this wayward woman is her desire to learn about pure worship!

Well, sincerely speaking I've once had this precise experience... Just that the person didn't say, it's their dog... He just kept saying he was not at home... It was kind of funny, myself and My partner just kindly walked to the next door...

You concluded well but please try to ascertain by a thorough investigation or research to know EXACTLY what is wrong in a religion before making such a public declaration. Remember the same was said about Jesus before He was killed and the same accusation against His early followers! Luke 23:2,Act 5:28

Jesus and His followers were accused of misinterpreting the Hebrew Aramaic scriptures (Old Testament) to the people, the several diverse religious groups despite their contradicting doctrines formed alliance against Jesus and His followers trying to criticize them but when they notice that they've failed to instigate the people against Jesus and His followers they resort to persecuting them. Act 5:40 That's why most Jews till today won't accept Jesus as their Messiah! So if history now repeats itself a wise person will investigate thoroughly before choosing his next line of action! 1Timothy 5:21

Many people who failed to identify Jesus as the promised Messiah never did so intentionally,what led to their disbelieve is not meditating on the signs God's word told them would help in identifying the Messiah! Even most of those who became His followers later turn back and never follow Him again. John 6:66-68 But what helped those who remains till the end? Well it's meditation upon unfolding event during Jesus' Earthly life. Jesus gave two signs for faithful people in our time to help us identify those practicing pure worship.(1) Everywhere they'll be vilified.Matthew 10:22 (2) Everyone will notice that they love their members.John 13:35 Even God has given US a sign "They'll be able to speak convincingly about their Faith and no other religious groups can withstand their powerful speech" Isaiah 54:17 So it's left to anyone to choose either to IDENTIFY and JOIN them or believing that they're stupid to have been different from others!

Notice whats happening here, as the Russian government who has spent billions of dollars for peace to reign amongst their people, recruiting police, customs, immigrations and many other institutions just to prevent violence and crime. But now they're charging these people JWs to court on the bases of preaching and teaching people to become peaceful and easy going citizens like themselves! So these peace-loving, law-abiding, easygoing people are forced to start meeting for their normal spiritual routine of exchange of encouragement in private homes. You can read Matthew 10 and meditate on what's happening, God bless you!

Jesus preached from house to house and sent his followers to do the same.Matthew 10:12 Paul preached from house to house.Act 20:20 Notice that's Jesus said "when you get to a house" So He did and sent US to go and meet people at home!
