Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai yesterday visited Gajigana, Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State, which was attacked by Boko Haram terrorists on Sunday.

He was received and conducted round troops’ deployment by the Commander 5 Brigade and the Commanding Officer of 243 Battalion.

The Chief of Army Staff while fielding questions from journalists that accompanied him, stated that he was there to see things for himself, asses the situation and give necessary directives.
Speaking further with the Commanders, he expressed dissatisfaction with the troops conduct and warned that such incident should not repeat itself.

The troops were reported to have fled their base after Boko Haram members nearly overpowered them in Gulak.

Buratai also called on the public, especially those residing in the affected area to support and cooperate with the troops by exposing suspected Boko Haram terrorists that live among them.

He stated that the recent wave of attacks by terrorists in Gulak and Gajigana should be seen as isolated, assuring that adequate measures were being taken to deal decisively with any such occurrences.
The COAS also assured that the military and the security agencies would continue to improve their performances.

He was accompanied by the Theatre Commander, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Acting Director Military Intelligence and the Acting Provost Marshal (Army).
Also on the entourage were representatives of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian Police attached to the Military Command and Control Centre.

The troops, during the Gulak attack, killed 3 Boko Haram terrorists, while a number escaped with gun shot wounds. One soldier lost his life.

They recovered a Toyota Hilux, 1 PKM gun, 1 General Purpose Machine Gun, 3 AK-47 rifles, 1 Rocket Propelled Grenade tube and 1 Rocket Propelled Grenade bomb.

Other recoveries include, 1 Charger, 7 Boxes of 7.62mm Link, 1 GP 340 Hand Held Radio, 4 Boxes of 7.62mm X 54mm Ammunitions, 3 Anti Riot Hand Held Grenade, as well as 30 Cleaning Kits, 2 Packets of Artillery Primers and 97 pieces of Zela fuse.

The location have also been reinforced and the troops are now poised for any eventuality.

Army said the troops were further pursuing the escaping terrorists and also exploiting to further block such kind of incursion.

Hahahahaha!! How many seriously funded and engaged Universities Of Technology, worldwide ,post this on their official website?

Dear General, share your allocation into Ten equal parts, with one, engage in corporate Tithing, the next two, settle the recurrent expenses,
Then take the rest to fund Intensive Research and Development Programmes in these, now petty trading, Universities of Technology, then wait to see results in few months time.
I am sure your boys won't run when they have locally sourced IT systems boosting communications, surveillance, intelligence gathering, and lots more my tiny mind can imagine, guiding and helping them dominate truly. Psychologists can also develop a model for fishing out officers aiding the terrorists.
Combats are no longer a ' you can't catch meee' children's play. You can seek them all out if you invest wisely.
Until then, every soldier deserves a pardon should he run from fighting without the 'God's Eye' in his team's possession.
#God Bless The Nigerian Armed Forces

LMAO. Stop running from Boko haram.

Buratai forgot soldiers are also human.

A soldier is as good as the weapon he wields.

Maybe he has an otumokpo to lace on the Troops engaging Boko haram
Wrong!!! A soldier is only as good as his training. A well-armed bt poorly trained soldier in combat is just a source of free weapon 4 d enemy. A wise commander if asked 2 choose between weapons or well trained & disciplined men would go with d latter. A well trained soldier is confident in his skills & relies on what he learns in training 2 survive during combat. D quality of training has 2 b critically examined. Is d average infantry NCO well versed in concepts lyk line of fire, defilade, enfilade, supporting fire, suppressive fire, leapfrogging, employment of high calibre weapons effectively in combat situations & oda combat maneuvers? How well stressed is weapon marksmanship? How realistic is d training dey undergo? Do training exercises comprise of just press ups & oda PT while simulated combat exercises r rare or non occurent? R dey given d ryt training 2 fight d right war. High quality training wld reveal also serve 2 separate d wheat 4rm chaff as men who flunk wld likely b among those who would b found want on d battlefield. A well trained soldier goes into war with d knowledge & acceptance dt he might meet his demise but is willing 2 overcome d enemy & survive. Yes d men should b well armed bt I think d COAS needs 2 focus chiefly on d quality & quantity of training these men receive.
