I was seated quietly waiting for my flight when I noticed this little boy take a pencil which didn’t appear to be his. “Why did you take the pencil”? I asked. He said he mistakenly took it. How do you ‘mistakenly’ walk to a table, pick up a pencil that isn’t yours and walk away with it? Is that the new word for ‘stealing’?...

Anyway, without trying to sound self-righteous and all, I daresay that we have all stolen something at one point or the other in our lives. Yes. It could have been an extra teaspoon of milk or another meat in the pot. Or making use of the neighbour’s wifi without their consent?

How about stealing dp (display picture)? Or taking that extra toilet paper from the hotel room? Or taking pieces of meat or plantain while frying?

And then, there is the commonest one which almost everybody is guilty of. Someone lends you a pen in the bank and you forget to return it. Do we even call this stealing? Hmmmmm…

Anyway sha, I think the only type of stealing that is acceptable is stealing that special person’s heart. That person who is on your mind just before you go to bed and pops into your heart just as soon as you wake. That person who stays on your mind all day, with or without your permission. That person who you look forward to seeing at the end of each day. That person who makes you smile no matter how tired you are.
