This begging is a profession peculiar to the Hausas. The Gwaris, Nupes and some tribes in the North will never beg no matter how poor. They rather farm.He didn't state that the Gwari's beg ,rather he praised them for their hardwork

All are northern states, even when they have been in power longer than any other ethnic group, imagine if the Igbos or Yoruba where to rule this country for the same years the North has ruled, Nigeria won't be in this mess.

She wakes up early like shes going to work, i even see her along d road wt her kids going to resume duty. 8am, she has positioned herself at the 1st place where they serve breakfast, she will beg wt her very dirty looking children, who miraculously always have clean, good slippers on. Then she goes to another place for d lunch rush, then sits in front of d garden (where they sell grilled fish) in the evening. Im sure she earns twice d minimum wage at the end of d month.

may GOD bless you for saying this truth. The north is a drain on the economy, this country needs to split.

u guys are so silly. And yet d north feeds us. The north is a victim of corruption and d govts dependence on oil. Just like every other region.

There was a time in this country we were exporting groundnuts, cotton, tobacco and cocoa and never had a trade deficit. It wasnt so long ago. There are pictures of lagos and d rest of d country in d 60's. It wasnt built on oil. Our problem is not d north, its your own personal tribal problem.

So it was okay for ironsi to federalize d country and d economy, so dt every regions revenue is used by everyone, but since we are now dependent on oil, federalism is now wrong. Hope u know d north and d west never wanted federalism. It was Azikiwes' NCNC dt wanted it, and they did a coup to get it. You better stop complaining.

Why art thou lie, Janellemonae? Ironsi turned the country into a unitary state, and not federal.

And in the run up to independence, the East wanted the country to be a unitary state, the North preferred a confederation, while the West canvassed for federalism. Anyone who has read Awo's memoirs will tell you he became a federalism convert and advocate in 1948.

Besides, any right-thinking political scientist will tell you federalism is a better system for an entity with a character such as Nigeria's.

But seriously these beggars take begging as a profession, I don't even give to beggars anymore especially if they are healthy. Even if they aren't they can still get by but choose to beg. I know beggars that send their children to school through begging, Some don't even accept less than N100. It has become a profession and there are becoming nuisance. Imagine begging in a place as populated as Kano, If 100 people could give you just N10 you have a thousand naira in just a day. Some people even ask beggars for change . Those kids you see begging, some of them were organized by Alhajis to go beg and bring back the money...I wonder what they are given in return. It is time to put a stop to begging in the North. Kaduna have made a move now it is Kano, In Niger state the Nuisance aren't that much.This begging is a profession peculiar to the Hausas.
