Language twist occured to them. The oral history said they are Yorubas. Why do they have too many Yoruba words, names among them?

Language twist never occurred because ogori-magongo language (oko) is not related to any other language or not especially the surrounding Edo and igbirra languages and not to any dialect of Yoruba,so were did they get the language if it's not original to them.It shows they never spoke any other language but oko.

There aren't too many Yoruba words in oko,and the few that are are borrowed words, which is a common thing for most Languages.

Yoruba naming convention is fairly recent, started mostly during the early colonial times, however OGORI has a history of passing through yorubaland such as ijebu- owo,and cud have adopted some Yoruba names earlier, they also lived up to 15 years probably in ijebu-owo during the Nupe wars, ogori also has a lot of igbirra,as well as Uneme and other edoid names

No oral history of ogori says they are Yorubas ,the one on Wikipedia was adopted from a disputed history of ogori book by an author

The way Yoruba,Igbo,Hausa, igbira, benin formed to be a tribe is the same way ogori-magongo formed into a tribe( oko)

If I can't believe Wikipedia, should I blv you?
Wikipedia was composed by people of more intellects than you.
You blv other historical sources from wikipedia but didn't blv that of ogoris people.
That's denial of origin. Seems you v same issues like Benin (Ile-Ibinu) people. You both deny ya origins.
Ok. When Nigeria splits, make Ina no near Yorubaland o!

We are not ebira.

Ogori Magongo is a border town, so we share border with ebira speaking towns.
So most of them and our people intermarry and settle as one.
Same can be said of some tribes from Edo state, they share borther with us and are very close to us.
Don't even get me started with Kwara state, which we were initially part of before the creation of Kogi state. Even now, there are still traces of Ogori and Magongo in Kwara state.

So we are not Ebira, we are Ogori/Magongo. We are a tribe of our own. Yes, we do have Yoruba ancestry which is evident from most of our surnames.

Yoruba surnames are not evidence of Yoruba ancestry, most original ogori surnames are non Yoruba, most Yoruba surnames of ogori people today were the first names of their fathers who were named in the early colonial era or after ogori arrival from ijebu-owo ( okejebu) in today's ondo state.

The Yoruba names are not family names except for very few

Ogori-magongo get their land,we are not even close to yorubaland.
There are books written by ogori historians, including a former king of ogori, even one by the king of magongo too which never gave credence to ogori or magongo being from Yoruba land, the one on Wikipedia is coined from a particular one that was written in 2003 but as even been disproved.

Why una come get do many yoruba words, names, similar culture etc? If culture was borrowed, Una too borrow am. The words too why una no get life sotey una borrow plenty. See, Ogoris are Yorubas.
I insist, wikipedia is the yardstick of all histories worldwide. Even Benins wey get strong head pass una respected that their king na Oranmiyan's pikin. Ogoris are Yorubas that migrated to other parts. If you think Wikipedia is wrong, make all you ogori pikins write una own and petition Google to change it. Fish out the culprit that wrote the one on wikipedia and let's ask him/her where the source came from.
Lastly, una too don think say una mature mature wan claim say we nor be Yorubas. Who cares sef? Yorubas should prune away bad seeds sef!

It's like you confusing ogori with some other people, ogori has very few yorubas words in its language,I can literally count them all, also we have very minimal Yoruba culture, some of how festivals and traditions Yorubas do not practice them.

We know our history, ogori are not ignorant people, our history is well documented,

It's you imposing Yoruba on us,not we begging to be Yorubas, leave us alone, infact if ogori is related to any people it's the Edo and igbirra

The simple answer is acculturation and linguistic assimilation. .

I have learnt not to trust oral traditions too much when it comes to origins. People tend to claim that they come from a culture or kingdom that has influenced them significantly.

The linguistic data indicates that they were/are a non-Yoruba people.

Funny thing is Yoruba did not influence ogori much historically, from available records in ogori history ,ogorians encountered Yoruba through their migratory journeys probably from the east ,they passed through ijebu-owo and idoani( who even have Benin affiliation) .They also encountered Ibadan forces during their attack in the Akoko-edo, igbirra zones and their wife's and children sojourned again in ijebu-owo ( who were very opened to immigrants then) as war refugees. Then also the colonial Yoruba Anglican priest and teachers and under kabba province were Yoruba was mandated as the lingua franca. These overwhelming influence was of the colonial Yoruba teachers and priest.

For generations prior to these events the ogori had only minimal contact with Yoruba, our culture is markedly different, so is the language.Ogori is not a subethnic group but a root tribe not withstanding the population.

Magongo people are Yorubas

Funny, the magongo clans are even more non Yoruba than ogori, the clans in magongo comprising oturu, okpou, arigo, and uduako are even more non Yoruba than ogori cos they are among the oldest clans of ogori-osayen, only uduako as some relationship with Yoruba along with OGORI( having passed through ijebu-owo) having come from the Ako and Isure groups of idoani, however even the Ako and Isure groups in idoani are non Yoruba,Ako are an ancient autochonos group, while Isure are a group from sosan-akoko who claim origin from Benin.
