Another year, another Catholic bashing post!! 2000 years of bashing and the church still dey there. BTW, OP probably attended the Catholic Church on a particular event called 'a day with Mary' .to see Mary''s statue up front. This is no act of worship but a day set aside in a parish for intercessory prayers. |

btoks: A day with mary on christmas day? Really?! The birthday boy's statue was kept aside, while that of mary was placed almost at the centre, beside the pulpit. Ok, so when are guys having 'a day with Joseph'? Doesn't he know how to intercede as well? So to you guys, Jesus is not enough to intercede for you? Did he complain you guys are overloading his network, and you should resort to asking mary to intercede in lieu? If anyone should intercede, shouldn't it be someone who defied death, like Enoch and Elijah who were taken up into heaven? Go and expand your mind. |

matrix199:every saint is honoured ,bro. Check the liturgy of Mass, and the numerous saint prayers. Those without specific dates are honoured on 'All Saints day '. St Josephs specific day is March 19. Bro, you've got a lot to learn about Christianity because it didn't start in 21st century. We worship our Lord Jesus ,he is the focus of everything done in the Catholic Church. To be deep in history is to cease to be protestant.- John Newham. Go into Christian history bro. 1 Like |

I saw a video in which some people claimed dead mary appeared to them. I laughed till I could laugh no more. Nothing more than hallucination. Idiocy. |

Luke 11:27-28 "...a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said...'Blessed is the woman(mother) that conceived and bored you, and Jesus said..'Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and do his will'. Jesus clearly downplayed the honour, the blessedness, and adoration of mary, and emphasized the need to do the will of God. John 19:26".....when Jesus saw his mother(but wasn't described as beloved mother) and the disciple whom he "loved", he said to her.....'WOMAN(not mother or mummy), behold your son... Christ acknowledges the fact mary was nothing more than a surrogate vessel. Like I've said, catholicism is a doctrine created to celebrate, honour, bless, and hail mary, who was nothing more than a lady favoured to be a vessel because of her purity. Catholicism resorted to worship her disceetly(when prayers are directed to her). Those that have heads, let them think! |

matrix199:Maybe it is you who is ROM. You obviously think the Bible was written in English. KJV Onlyism anyone? The word woman you gloat over is actually supposed to be Lady when properly translated. |

matrix199:No at the center of every altar (not pulpit) of every Catholic Church in the whole world is a crucifix i.e a cross with a corpus. Back to you thinking that Catholics don't use their brain, you have probably never heard of Augustine right, or Aquinas, or Hans Urs von Balthasar or Henry Cardinal Newman or Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger? All of whom are definitely more intelligent than your fathers Luther, Calvin and their likes. |

Papist: They are intelligently retard*d. No sane man with great control of his mind would 'doctrinate', honour, and pray to a woman who didn't write a single sentence in the bible, who wasn't attributed a book in the bible, who was always tagged a woman by her son, who didn't transform a pencil to an eyeshadow, who later knew her husband and gave birth to other children(but is stil referred to as virgin mary). A sane man would rather honour John the baptist who prepared the way for christ, for without him, the messiah would not have been accepted. |

matrix199:More insults. So you were taught that being chosen by the Father from eternity to be the mother of the Divine Saviour is lesser than writing an epistle. Not trying to psychoanalyse you but it seems your anti-Roman bias is generating your hatred for the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is a shame. For your information, the Catholic Church celebrates feasts not only in honour of Mary but also in honour of the Holy Apostles and even celebrates the birthday of St John the Baptist. The Church also not only implores the intercession of the Virgin Mary but all the Saints. Of course the Church teaches that the Blessed Virgin is greater than all of God's creatures. 1 Like |

matrix199:What? You insisting that the Virgin Mary is not Jesus' mother? For your information in the Syriac culture to which Jesus' mother belonged, addressing a woman as Lady is highly honorific just like addressing a man as Lord. Interestingly the name Mary actually means Lady in Aramaic. |
Re: Catholicism: The Naivety And Gullibility Of Catholic Followers by matrix199(m): 11:13pm On Jan 11, 2016 |
Papist: Elizabeth, the mother of John the baptist, wasn't chosen by God to bear the greatest prophet who would prepare the way for the coming of Jesus? Yet she's neither honoured nor celebrated by you caths! Your problem is that you lack the power to reason incisively. Mary was a chosen vessel. Stop indoctrinating her. Your doctrine of honouring mary(who didn't die as a virgin!!!!!!) is likened to other religions like the one who claims to worship the supreme being(God) through a prophet. |

Seeking intercession from mary is as stupid and dumb as a man who asks the SSG to the federation to help him crave audience with the president who happens to be his father(the man). God sent his son to redeem humanity. He made his name above every other names. He alone is the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the father, or seeketh the father, or prays to the father, but by him. You caths deemed it right to pray or ask a dead woman to intercede on your behalf? Seriously? You all have the organ called brain, but it's not functioning to its best capacity. |

Hmm. Let me drop a banger. Did you know that the Sun, which is over a hundred times bigger than earth, is a dwarf star? The Sun is a dwarf star compared with mega stars like SCUTI, which is one thousand times bigger than the Sun. Humans are insignificantly like the size of a prions or virus compared with the SCUTI, how much more the universe. |
