How To Detect Car Horn Faults LISTEN FOR SOUND:Check for any sound when the horn is energized. If there is, then know that the electrical circuitry is still intact. INSPECT THE HORN: loosen the horn, clean any rust, and set it back and if the horn does not sound run a jumper wire to it directly from the battery. If it still does not work, change it. FUSE: Check to see that the fuse that controls the two horns if there is not fuse is burnt, if it is then replace it and reenergize the horn. CHECK HORN BUTTON: observes to see whether there is any dirt particle obstructing the horn knob on your steering wheel that stops the horn from sounding. ELECTRICAL WIRING: have a mechanic check — the wiring attached to the horn, if all else fails. If it is damaged, repair or replace it.
