As you all know that the situation of power supply in Nigeria currently is nothing to write home about. The power supply is presently very and extremely poor with some place struggling between 4 to 6 hrs power supply per day.
Psychologically , President Buhari giving a crucial ministry like "power" to someone alongside works and housing may show that the man may not really be interested in Power supply. Considering how poor power sector is. Unlike other sector like Health ministry, Education, Finance etc. that have their seperate ministry on their own. Why did president Buhari merge a very important sector like POWER that is so important with Ministry of housing and works? All to be controlled by a man, Mr fashola, may show the low intetest of Mr president in the having a stable power supply in this country. The ministry of power should be a seperate ministry on its own, to be controlled by a Minister for Power and not Minister of POWER, WORKS AND HOUSING. So the minister can focus on the power sector more adequately OR what do you think? lalasticlala

The fact that you don't understand the direction of Government does not mean the govt has no plans, from your text, you are only worried that power was not given a separate ministry as we all agree that it deserves some special attention.
The fact is this; the FG has no plans to run the Three arms of the power sector (Generation, transmission and distribution). It will be controlled by the private sector hence there is no need for a separate ministry rather a monitoring agency, like DPR, NCC etc.

It will amount to a total waste of public funds to run a regulatory agency as a full ministry.

Weather the agency is alive, well i can confidently tell you that the ministry of power just scrapped the evil fixed charge. hitherto, Power companies don't necessarily need to supply you electricity yet you are under obligation to pay, if you have a failed substation (bad transformer). the power company will not bother to fix it because at the end of the month, they will make between 735-750naira monthly.
Imagine a Power company like EEDC controlling, Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi and Enugu states, if these states have 50m flats, EEDC by that fraudulent policy makes 37.5b naira monthly for sleeping.
Someone who makes that much in a month will not bother to repair or replace a transformer. The ministry of power recently increased electricity tariff, the reason is that the companies need to make huge capital investments in the sector to become efficient, but every kobo from the new tariff must be earned by the power companies, that is in the interest of the consumers.
With this result so far, I can assure you that Fashola has plans for the power sector.

The reason is simple ,a lot of money has been pumped into the power sector in the past with little result . What the power sector needs is someone that can get things done. Recall sometime ago the customs raised alarm about the abandonment of hundreds of container of electricity equipments at the ports and even offer to release them duty free. The power sector needs to be made to work and I believe fashola can do it .

Think deep next time. I mean the service providers Glo, etisalat, mtn and co are private agencies too just like the power sector and it had its own seperate minister.
