The Senate President, Bukola Saraki,alongside the Senate Leadership today January 13,2016, inaugurated a Constitutional Review Committee.The new Committee was set up to review the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Speaking at the inauguration,Sen. Bukola Saraki said the 8th Senate will not maintain the status quo of past assemblies of redundancy. He assured Nigerians that the Constitutional Review Committee will deliver its duties professionally.He appealed to all the members of the Constitutional Review Committee to ensure that they do their best in the discharge of their duties. Again?! They better do a good job this time and justify their pay. I also hope they'll have copies of the CONFAB to guide this review. It will really be a great joy to have a complete departure from this military relic called a Constitution and have a real people-oriented Constitution. 1 Like |
