One person was allegedly wounded and properties including houses worth several millions of naira destroyed as soldiers of the 14 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Ohafia, Abia State clashed with civilians in the area.

Reports had it that a prominent member of Ekpe Cultural group from Amaekpu Ohafia had died and as tradition demanded, youths from the area organized the Ekpe festival for his burial.

In the course of the festival, it was gathered that a fracas ensued between the youths and some soldiers which resulted in a fight.

The soldiers were reported to have gone back to their nearby barracks and regrouped with a truck-load of soldiers and thereafter descended on the community.

In the ensuing commotion, one civilian was said to have been shot on the leg while properties worth several millions of naira were allegedly destroyed by the rampaging soldiers.

Ogbeni there has been army barrack in the town long time ago so this barrack isn't created because of the agitation. Army shldnt flex it's power on civilian when there is misunderstand and stop talking like u don't knw hw nigeria army behave.

Do we even have Nigeria soldiers? do we? what we have is hausa/fulani soldiers, they dont know the culture of their host community, so many of them dont know come in english. Where do u think d fulani herdsmen get the guns they use in robbing from? some soldiers even join those herdsmen in robbing travellers.
