Former president Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has said he is willing to work President Muhammadu Buhari should he be called upon. Jonathan made this known during the world press conference he held yesterday at the Geneva Press Club in Switzerland. Jonathan spoke on corruption allegations against his government. Below are answers to some of the questions he took from international journalists who were at the world press conference Excerpts:

WORKING WITH BUHARI
I am a former president. I can not throw myself to the government. It depends on the assignment the president will give me. If my preseident gives me any assignment,I will do it. Just like when I was in office, we gave assignments to former heads of states. So I am free to work for the president, and indeed for any African president that wants to give me assignment.

ON DIEZANI, KOLA ALUKO...
I have an idea of quite a number of things you are raising. While some are isolated cases, they are all linked up. I would not want to make strong statements in my country that are not allowed. While as a president if I really worked hard to ensure separation of powers, and independence of the judiciary, I will not as a former president now reverse the gear.

ON MISSING BILLIONS
I have said some of the figures they are mentioning, they have not even mentioned all. Sometimes they are a bit careful, they would not say all these monies they are claiming got lost in the 5 years that Jonathan was the president. Some people think I have been the president of Nigeria from independence. They don't know I was president for just 5 years. They said we lost up to 150 billion dollars in foreign lands. We could not have lost 150 billion dollars in the 5 years I was president. Nigeria would have collapsed if that happened.

ON LAI MOHAMMED'S ALLEGATION OF 15 CORRUPT EX-GOVERNORS
As for the Information Minister(Lai Muhammed), you quoted, I was not president in 2006 but in 2010.He said about 15 former governors of states were corrupt. I believe for the Minister of Information to say that, he must name the 15 governors. I also believe the list must be with our security network. The truth will still come out. These figures that are being mentioned I don't want to go into them. Let the security and court sort out these issues. At the appropriate time I will speak. But the figures are quite alarming.

NEGOTIATION WITH FAKE BOKO HARAM NEGOTIATORS
We did not negotiate with Boko Haram. The government never set up a negotiation team.People do all sorts of things in the name of politics with very serious national issues. The group we negotiated with was the militants in the Niger Delta and we came up with the Amnesty Programme because they had identity. If we had negotiated with Boko Haram, we would have come up with a programme.

WHY HE DIDN'T HEAD TO TRIBUNAL
Human beings are designed for different things, by evolution or by creation. We are very religious in Nigeria. One thing I believe is that I did not go into politics because of what I stand to benefit. I also believe it takes the sacrifice of individuals to build a society. So as African leaders,we must be ready to set standards that others can emulate. In Nigeria it is worrisome that anybody who does not win an election will go to the tribunal. So I felt that tradition must also change. At any particular time, leaders must be ready to make sacrifices for their people.

Jonathan tactically avoided answering the questions directly cos he knows the mess he left behind.

Has anyone noticed he avoids speaking about the present govt directly? He knows PMB doesn't give a damn about him. Only the wailers think he is a hero indeed. I dare Jonathan to speak up about the dasukigate.

For what you have done my amiable Ex president, for conceding defeat in last election. You make Nigeria to remain has a nation today. People blame your government but, they forgot that you are not a action man but a peaceful man with wisdom that just have pity mind and the spirit of forgiveness.

The presidency of Nigeria is like being the C.E.O of a company, if your employer terminates your appointment you have no other choice than to leave.
He didn't do anything remarkable by conceding defeat, and you know what they say about he who rides a tiger.

GEJ is a man of integrity. Indeed, if all the bogus figures being mentioned were actually facts, our economy would have collapsed. He was accused of negotiating with Boko Haram, but he has stated that he never did. News is never complete until you hear from both sides.
I have said it times without numbers that only zombies believe those astronomical figures being quoted by the lying liars. Yes, Dasuki may have misappropriated certain security funds but definitely not up to $2.1b. For Christ's sake, we are talking about N500b. How much has been discovered or refunded so far with all the 'gragra'? probably less than N20b. We are really in for a long season of propaganda in Nigeria. I think Buhari is doing a service to this nation by appointing a Lie Muhammed as his Government's spokesperson instead of appointing a dispassionate Nigerian who will communicate Goverment's policy to us so that he/they can earn the trust of the masses.

Most of this media conferences and awards are paid for thus, not interested.

I can remember clearly the period they (his government) claimed they were negotiating with BH. So I wonder why he lied.

On the economy, yes Nigerian economy has or is collapsing from the billions stolen in you administration and beyond. Your CME Mrs Nnozi made various statements about recession, high taxes etc. and how we should gear up for same this year. Thus, I wonder why Nigerians forget or forgot so easily.

At the end if you attention is needed they will call on you for either assignments or to clarify issues.

You don't speak about country's government anyhow as an ex-president. Only crude people do that. It's uncivilized.

The alleged corruption cases are in court. Doesn't it occur to you that he might have privileged information that could jeopardize the cases in court? Let the case begin and then they call him as a witness or whatever.

Are you designed to be crude ‎or you evolved?

Yes, he did.

800+ people were butchered and roasted in the fire when Buhari lost an election and refused to concede in 2011.

Even though his party took a formal approach to challenge the case in court his reluctance to participate in the court process and the failure to concede defeat stoke the violence, until they managed to bring him to civilization and he grudgingly agreed to participate.

800+ people lost their lives due to no fault of theirs. Among the butchered innocent people were youth corps members in Bauchi State then who were butchered just because they held them responsible for Buhari's loss. ‎It led to many states in the southern part of the country withdrawing their wards from the scheme.

‎The 2015 elections would have been bloodier in multiple times. Buhari himself had threatened soaking baboons and dogs in blood, El-Rufai said they were going to use 'FORCE' to take government and then Jonathan's people were everywhere threatening to burn Nigeria to smithereens if he was not re-elected. Nigerians were already preparing to overrun the West and Central African countries in millions as refugees. Several people had already left Nigeria for safety abroad with families.

And then suddenly, the peace loving Jonathan provided the needed LEADERSHIP.‎ He made the call. That's the difference. You can't take that away from him no matter how much you try to. It saved Nigeria of needless bloodshed.   When Kayode Fayemi conceded defeat to Fayose in Ekiti, his party did not take kindly to that. He was summoned to Bourdillon immediately. It was alien to them.

As you can see, Buhari's government has not recovered from the shock of the unexpected peace that pervaded the country after the election. They were dazed for months. They couldn't summon up courage to do a basic thing like forming their government because they couldn't believe their eyes. There was no blood on the street. They had to check and check again to be sure. Some things that an incoming government should have ordinarily prepared for took them ages to put together. Unfortunately we are the ones bearing the brunt of the unpreparedness. By removing every form of uncertainties of INCONCLUSIVE electoral process occassioned by legal challenges, one would have thought the incoming government would have move very fast in putting out its programs. Nothing like that. Ordinary budget had to be 'stolen and returned' in January, 2016 - by a government that took office in May 2015.

Their attempts at covering up the apparent tardiness ‎are seen in all the lies and propaganda dished out every 12 hours. And with all that, the economy is taking a serious beating every second.
