Supreme court has done it again by upholding the election of Emmanuel Udom of PDP as duly elected Governor of Akwa Ibom state .

In the ruling , the court held that Emmanuel won the total lawful votes cast, setting aside the earlier verdicts of the two lower courts.

The court as well upheld Governor Udom’s earlier Appeal challenging the cancellation of results in 13 LGAs of the state.

Furthermore, the Appeal by the Independent National Electoral Commission challenging election results cancellation in some other local governments areas was upheld as well.

Recall that there has been a lot of tension in affected states over the Supreme court’s final ruling today.

The Supreme court is the highest court in the country which suggests that the its say in any case is final.

Meanwhile, Governor Ikpeazu of Abia’s election has also been upheld.
The lead judge that delivered the judgment, Justice ‎Sulaiman Galadima ‎ noted that there was merit in the appeal that was lodged by both Ikpeazu and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
