airsaylongcon: There is a way around that, since fb posts are visible to friends of a friend. All your parents or that individual need do is to befriend one of your friends and this could be another relative and voila! they can read your wall and see your profile pic, album, etc. |

airsaylongcon: Facebook was build around lest privilege and more openness, despite all the newly added privacy options and buttons added to silence people outcries about the intrusiveness and lack of privacy on Facebook. The option you just highlighted, despite it hype about what it offers, it is still porous....your friends on Facebook can see your likes...so e.g. If Kola is a friend to Bola on Facebook and let assume Kola flagged all his posts, pictures, etc to 'friends only' as you have indicated....this means only Bola along with other Kola friends can theoretically see Kola's posts and pictures...but in practice, that is not true...if Ahmed is a friend to Bola and not a friend to Kola, Ahmad can see all Bola's likes on Facebook, so if Bola likes Kola's post or picture viola! Ajman will see those Kola posts and pictures despite Kola's privacy settings. There are many other ways of piggy backing on friends of friend to see what others are doing on Facebook. The surest way to ensure your privacy is to stay off the internet, and definitely not on Facebook whose business model is built around making your info public. Facebook market capitalization is about $300 billion, which means Facebook is bigger than companies like GE, HP, Dell, Starbucks, Target, New York Times, Amazon, Disney, eBay, Nokia and the list goes on...but these are brick and mortal companies with real products, services, etc...what is Facebook product? They do not charge users a penny to use their service but are big because their business model is build around marketing those users info, though sometimes they anonymize them, but it is still public info, hence those privacy settings are not as ironclad as advertised. |

fexichi: Ouch! as your mother, is she not suppose to be your number one friend? |
Re: When Your Parents Follow You On Twitter - Photos by linearity: 7:56pm On Feb 17, 2016 |
airsaylongcon: Not ironclad as you may think, friends of a friend can view your post and pictures...even after further restrictions for posts and profiles to only be accessible to friends....if a friend like any of your posts or picture, by defaults since friends can view other friends likes, their friends who are not yours, can then also view your post or pictures that have been liked. |
