My cousin was recently offered employment with these two companies in the UK. Considering his background degree in Accounting, he is inclined to KPMG but several opinions from wllwishers have been angling towards Exxonmobil.

Your cousin must be a very lucky person. KPMG is a good starting place for an accounting graduate as this will provide an opportunity have different industries experience instead of being restricted to the oil & gas. The person will be able to choose whichever sector his passion lies when leaving KPMG.

However, if your cousin is more interested in money at this point, I'll suggest he chooses Mobil. Though they also send staff on overseas training like KPMG but it doesnt usually happen until your third or fourth year with them.

If zero intention of moving back to naij then KPMG
Else = Exxon

Both are very good career companies in my view.
But you didn't actually say if the jobs were located in Nigeria or the UK.
Exxon Mobil is a much bigger operation, and will probably offer more salary + benefits, but I think KPMG will offer the broader exposure of the two.

For me the job scope and salary + benefits is always much more important than the name of the company. But he should be sure the exxonmobil job is relevant to his field of study and has valuable experience. He might get dumped in an accounting process job (payables, inventory/warehouse, procurement/logistics, etc), rather than the tax/advisory/audit services that a KPMG would offer.

For me, I'd rather be working on structured financing than processing supplier invoices everyday, or something equally boring.
