Why recycle the minister? Yaradua has no reason to govern anybody much less a troubled nation like nigeria. But the problem with nigeria is that if and when he goes, what comes next? UMYA succeeded OBj, and we know many nigerians hated that regime. But there are a lot of worse people out there who have the money and influence to become president. And there's just nothing in place to weed them out or prevent them from wrecking more harm onm our national psyche.

I am not totally convinced that Jomo Gbomo and co will not loot the Niger Delta worse than than the current crop of leaders. But thats totally beside the point. What is needed now is to identify people who are capable and have proven themselves. No matter what they are doing. The press could help Nigeria a lot in this regard. Rather than regaling us with stories of Mark's dirty underwear and Obj's latest fart to sell their dirty newsprint, they should instead focus on achievers and builders, people that we can look up to and be proud of.

But I forget myself, why will the press do that when they can make "something" by selling us corrupt politicians as builders? Nigeria is endemically corrupt. It happens on every road, in every office. Until the nigerian people mend their ways, they will always be ruled by leaders like these. As someone said, A PEOPLE WILL ONLY GET THE LEADERS THEY DESERVE. Certainly not by wishes or asking.

Redman44:

Nothing short of a revolution will correct the injustices in Nigeria. We have a President who has no clue about the keg of gunpowder the nation is sitting on.  Umar Yar'Adua is a disgrace to the great Yar'Adua political dynasty. This is what happens when a President is imposed on the citizens rather than him being elected through the ballot box. Olusegun Obasanjo needs to share part of the blame concerning the present state of Nigeria. OBJ has proved that he is a bad leader. Good leaders are respected with the candidates they push into power. It is obvious that OBJ does not want his little achievements to be surpassed by a much younger purposeful President. That was why he brought in Yar'Adua as his replacement. Very shallow thinking from the Owu man I know Nigeria would not be in this same position if Donald Duke, Peter Odili or any of the other guys had been nominated to occupy Aso Rock.

99% of Nigerian Politicians are insane. Cheers.
What else can one say. embarassed

story story story!!!!!!

You can put lipstick on a pig, its still a pig

If they like let them announce Henry Okah as defence minister, it wont make any difference

the only solution is 100% resource control by each geopolitical zone, every should control their own resources PERIOD!!!!
Re: Nigeria Changes Defence Minister After Mend Attacked Lagos by OYBMEND: 9:36pm On Jul 15, 2009
MEND should blow up a car close to Abuja National Stadium and warn FIFA to take their world cup to another country.

A country where injustice REINS has no business hosting the world cup.

Re: Nigeria Changes Defence Minister After Mend Attacked Lagos by smooooooth: 8:02am On Jul 16, 2009
removing a square peg from a round hole, and replacing with a triangle one, will not solve the problem. nigeria needs to wake up. they shld just do the right thing, of calling everyone to the round table, and drawing a fresh agrrement on how nigeria shld be run, in a proper way a federation shld be run.

hello,
what difference will a General as minister of defence make when we had a General as president and commander in chief and the Niger delta situation got worst.
it is justice and equity-fiscal federalism, that would solve the Niger delta problem.
God bless Nigeria.
theofresh,
Re: Nigeria Changes Defence Minister After Mend Attacked Lagos by Okwutex: 10:41am On Jul 16, 2009
Nigeria is lucky that no Saddam like country is near us, if not we would have suffer what Kuwait suffered in the hands of Saddam. changing the minister will not bring security to Ninja cos they are all the same, they are only busy fighting on how to enrich themselves forgeting what they are called to do. also their duty is to intimidate their fellow Nigerians on the street with their stupid escorts or protect themselves with bullet proof cars to avoid kidnapping.
The president knows what to do to stop these people cos they know how to stop the massob. nna make una just us alone jo

Cutting of the head can never be the solution to one's headache.

Recycling ministers' i guess is just a waste of effort, the best thing is for the Federal Government provide more employment opportunities in the Niger Delta area.

MEND are a bunch of criminals!!!!!

Why have they not asked the Niger Delta Governors, past and present, why the area has not developed? News Flash: ",  While the four oil producing states of the Niger Delta got a total monthly allocation of N1.5trn (yes trillion) for the months of January to December 2008, their counterparts from the North got a total of N696bn in the same period."

From 1999 till date the Niger Delta has received over N10 trillion and yet dem still dey shit for bush!!! Make una dey there - Aboki don carry im share fix Abuja, the balance at least we dey see for at least 25% of im brodas dem bodi.

MEND make una dey burn evrything wey dey una land ehn??!! Una kuku get brodas wey no need una to settle them before dem hail una!!!

Ibori, Igbinedion, Odili, NDDC, , wait o!, , Una even get VP, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!, all of them living large and living tipsy, make una dey there dey shine eye for Aboki.
