Parent/guardian’s Negligence: A Major Cause Of Irresponsibilities Today by Amastermovic(m): 7:54am On Mar 08, 2016 |
As the popular saying goes ” Charity Begins at Home “. This does not mean a person named Charity but an Individual. Every individual began from infancy(birth) and assimilates everything done within his/her environment. At this stage the relationship with their parent or care giver is intimate. They trust their every action to be the right. Parent/ Guardian play a major role in helping the child, they build trust, affection and warm relationship. The child begins to grow with the mentality/knowledge of life known to him/ her. The one that wasn’t well handled at the infancy stage tend to go the wrong way. The child begins schooling and meets children from different tribes, home and with different knowledge and Thinking Abilities. A child brought up with warm relationship will always share every new experience or acts with his/her parent when he gets home and is therefore enlightened on it. Such child develops independence and self-direction both the one criticize always will keep such experience to himself and remain in doubt without knowing if it is right or wrong. Some parents leaves home as early as 5am and comes in late when the child is asleep, they don’t even ask about the child’s week during the weekend but instead they Say “You know we worked from Monday to Friday,so Mummy and daddy need to rest” Such child is given attention by those who want him or her on the wrong path and sees it as the best path because he’s been given attention. The child later begins secondary education, this is the worst and best stage of a child’s life. This is where different forms of misbehaviour begins e.g Cultism, Prostitution, examination malpractices as a result of little or no time to read, night crawling, smoking, alcohol consumption etc. Most parents assume their child is grown and therefore leaves them paying little or no attention to them. The child visits friends, they go to different places. This behaviour grows and the child later becomes absolutely irresponsible, the child will shout back at you when been scolded, will run away from home when u beat him and so on. Most of this children finishes secondary school and graduates into street hoodlums, professional prostitutes and migrate from cigarette to Indian hemp,Marijuana etc which results into drug abuse and addiction. All these extends from Young, Teenager into middle age period. They later becomes godfathers of younger hoodlums, they bring in new youths and train them to be a disaster to the society. Case Study: BOKO HARAM: Boko Haram’s story begins with a preacher named Mohammed Marwa, born in 1927. At about age eighteen(18), he moved to Kano, in what is today northern Nigeria, and began a career as a preacher. Though he was killed but the fact that he had trained some youths, kept their going. So,parents, kindly listen and digest the songs we sing to you “Parents listen to your children We are the leaders of tomorrow Try to pay our School fee And give Us Sound Education”. While working on this article,I saw some lower level primary school students say “Aye ” in chorus which some people made me know it is the Aye Confraternity Slang.
