Look, a boy (Yellow) from #Kano was run- followed by a "13/14/17" years girl from # Bayelsa to Kano, the parents, the traditional institutions, the Shariah, the Police followed stipulated traditional, Islamic and legal frameworks to settle the issue but some anti any things North who want to use the issue to castigate North change elopement to "abduction/ kidnap" and inundated the cyberspace and the (social)media with screams that their "girl" was abducted....

Two days later, a Christian pastor (Akanji Oluwaseun) and his fellow Christian abductors (Emmanuel & co) abducted #schoolgirls in # Ikorodu of # Lagos state but there was little of the usual rants and shout-outs from the Child- rights and Human-rights activists, was it because the pastor and other abductors are Southerners and Christians, would there be silence if the Ikorodu abductor were #Muslims and # Northerners What Do you think the Newspaper Headlines would be like?

What's the comparison here? I did not hear of anyone or authority attempting to shield the so-called pastor or Lagos abductors. This was contrary to what played out in Kano.

What transpired in both cases were all crimes. But what led to the agitation in one of the cases was the complacency of concerned authorities in the crime.

You can reason that the 'pastor' and his gang did not enjoy such privileges as the duration of their crime did not last up to two weeks as compared to that in Kano that lasted for over seven months!

OP, statement like yours is what keep getting Islam caught up on this kind of issue.
People who added religious coloration to the Ese/Yunusa saga did so because an Islamic institution sanctioned it. And the tragedy here is that this is not just one off situation. There are number of such scenario that played out in the past and the same Islamic institutions played active roles.
If Yunusa brought Ese to Kano and nobody tried to convert her and she was promptly sent back to bayelsa, I bet that no one will dare open his mouth to mention Islam on this issue.
Come on, Yunusa is not the first Muslim that committed crime in this country and nobody cared to ask about his/her religion.
Nigerians label politicians from across all religions as thieves and no one has mentioned their religion.
Comparing Ese/Yunusa case with Ikorodu abductions will simply tell any rational mind that you covertly support Yunusa.
