Juxtapose this with the word thief, *ESTABLISHED thief,* the lesson to be derived is that of the manifestation of extreme principles of misconduct. The *Guardian of London has only corroborated what Obasanjo,* Atiku’s boss said about him. The paper simply drew the attention of *Nigerians, to shine their eyes* and avoid the danger of falling victims, to people like Atiku, who are *thirsty, greedy*. and anxiously waiting to grab the *treasury*, for the collective burial of the fortunes of their country. For a man who had been severally linked with *dirty deals* culminating in the conviction of an *American congressman* a man who promised to *sell off the *NNPC*, the main economic engine of Nigeria and *enrich his friends,* describing him as ESTABLISHED *thief*, only puts the cap to the assertion of the former *British Prime minister*, that Nigeria is full of people that are *fantastically CORRUPT*. BREVITY OF LIFE

TEXT: JUDGES 12:7-15

KEY VERSE: "And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead" (Judges 12:7).

For every man, life is short and uncertain. Only the near approach of death is ever so sure. It is therefore necessary that we place priority on living a life that counts for eternity.

The story of Jephthah shows that God can use anyone to accomplish His purpose. Through his boldness and faith in the God of Israel, he obtained great deliverance for Israel against the Ammonites.

Jephthah was firm in his decision and vow to God. His steadfastness is a lesson to contemporary believers. Although, he died after only six years of his victory over the Ammonities, that victory brought peace that lasted over 31 years to Israel. The three judges that ruled immediately after Jephthah had no wars to fight for their reign were peaceful.

However, after the death of Jephthah, Israel soon went back to their sinful lifestyle. The three succeeding judges passed away quickly after their respective short reigns that God might again visit Israel for their sin and backsliding. When iniquity abounds in the land, and righteous leaders become few, it is a sign that evil days are near.

The lessons in today's passage are many. First, we must come to term with the brevity of life. No matter how long we live, our life is short in view of eternity. Second, it is unwise to bask endlessly in the joy of any earthly victory or success; we must not lose focus of eternity. Third, the peace we make or the row we cause today may have effects running on after us for some generations after. We must, therefore, endeavour to make peace with men at all times.

Each & every 180 million Nigerian is involved in 1, 2, or 3 of these crimes.
It makes common sense therefore, that if we can discipline ourselves, tell ourselves the truth & stop whichever one(s) we are involved in, our country will be the heaven on earth we want.

The resources of a nation are not infinite but limited. Where do you expect Buhari to get the money, personnel & equipment to stop all the crimes enumerated above as well as a hundred others not listed here?

Our whole budget for the year is under #9trillion with a police force of 330,000 officers.

To combat to an appreciable level just these crimes here alone will require more than #50trillion over the next ten years & more than 2 million police men excluding the State police that will soon come into effect & the rest of the armed forces.
