The Governor of Rivers State; Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike has declared a two day public holiday for public servants and those in the private sector. In a broadcast televised by the state owned TV Station RSTV, he said Thursday and Friday has been declared a work free day so as to enable the people prepare for the National and State Houses of Assembly re-run election. He urged every eligible voters to come out and exercise their franchise while assuring adequate security in the state

This is to enable people who want to flee to do so safely while others who want to stay can stock up well, buy enough petrol for the generator and food for family.
